Dango sat on top of a lamppost in the park, playfully tossing a Chimera Anima from hand to hand. Of course, she could have floated, but the light source was helpful. After all, she was supposed to find the young woman who might be a Mew, and it was annoying enough finding the needle in that haystack without dealing with light difficulties. Really, the mission was one a child could handle if they went about it properly. But Dango wasn't there to complain, she was there to perform. And perform she would.
The trap was already prepared. A thin sheet of ice coated the lesser used road adjacent to the well-trampled concrete the lightpost was on. Dango had even donned Earth clothing she'd found. Why Humans liked to wear such ugly clothes was beyond her comprehension, but knowing how these things went, she would have plenty of time to study it, and perfect her disguise. A straw hat covered her obviously inhuman ears, and shaded her eyes, adding to the shadows atop the post that obscured her further.
The stage was set. All that was needed was the leading lady, who would sadly play into her tragic demise.

The leading lady was on her way, and completely unawares. In fact, she was engrossed in her own thoughts, which currently consisted of wondering why she wasn't tired. It was late evening, she'd eaten, and she'd been up all day. She should be ready for sleep, but instead, as night grew nearer, she just felt more awake. Her fingers fidled idly with some of the mottled melted glass she'd found while picking up trash at the crash site.
She wandered through the park, holding her bag close, and pondered a couple other strange things. "I must be sick. I feel all light headed, like I might keep going if I jumped, and I feel sick when I think of eating... well, I ate the tempura alright, but bleh. Chicken. And now this... insomnia or something. I'm not tired at all... maybe I should find a doctor. Oh, who am I kidding, I can't afford a doctor..." she trailed off and sighed, just now becoming aware that she'd been talking to herself so that anyone could hear. Great, she was now going crazier in addition to having the flu or something.
The lamp posts were on around the park, and Ume decided that she should really get inside, even if she wasn't tired. "And I paid for the bed, I shouldn't waste my money," she said, pausing on the path for a moment to get her bearings.

Showtime.
It had taken a while for Dango to form her plan, but finally she had one with multiple possibilities. If her prey turned onto the ice path, her fate would be sealed. A simple manipulation and the ice would encase the girl's ankles and start creeping upwards until she was completely frozen. If not, she would have to go about it the hard way, using deception and Anima. Of course, the ice would be more convenient, but there was no way to freeze both paths without catching some useless bystander. Privately, Dango hoped that the prey would continue straight. She hadn't had a chance to exercise her talents in some time.
Feeling a tingle of excitement, Dango leaned forward. Which would it be?

Ume frowned, trying to think of what direction she was facing. Well, the sun set that way, so... that means I go this way, she thought, and turned in a direction that didn't at all have a path, holding her pack close to her side.
Not being a foolish girl, she knew enough not to stray off the path, so she instead decided to follow her current path until she could turn in the right direction. This didn't take her on the iced path, but instead onto the main one.
She wasn't on guard, but instead kept a sharp eye out for a branch of the path in the right direction, and intended to hurry from lamp post light to lamp post light. She really just wanted to get to her room, and sleep the sickness out of her system.
"Maybe I'll have some tea..." she mumbled to herself as she paused under the nearest light. But it was more habit than any reluctance to travel into the dark. It was safer, or so she thought.

Zakuro stifled a yawn as she cut across the park. After her movie, she'd felt like some fresh air, and had told her driver to meet her back at her house. It wasn't very far, and walking was a good way to burn some of the calories from the snack at the movies.
Pausing, she noticed the odd silence in the park, and thought back to the Mews. She'd been so unsuccesful at finding the blonde girl that she's be assigned to, she had begun to wonder if the task was even possible. In a city like Tokyo, the chances of running into someone you'd never met before were almost nil.

Ume was walking in a quick step now, it was getting dark fast, and she had no desire to be in the park once it grew fully dark. She paused under a lamp post, taking her bearings once again, and taking stock of the few people in the park still.
She only actually saw one person, a man, and he was hurrying in the opposite direction, becoming a vague shadow in the low light. She sighed, a bit in releif, and a bit with a wish that there had been more people around.
"Well, the sooner I keep going, the sooner I get back, I guess..." she murmured, and started up again after a final look around.

Straight it was. No matter. The outcome would be the same, Dango was confident of that. If anything, it would make her victory over the girl all the more sweet.
Looking around, Dango found a set of bushes by the path that the girl was headed down. That would do. With practiced ease, the alien slipped off the lamppost, falling neatly into the bush, and creating a good deal of rustling noise to go with it.
If the girl had a heart- and most humans, being what they were, were inflicted with the useless things- she would have to investigate. If not, there would be more opportunities further along the path.

Ume's head turned towards the noise, her steps slowing. That wasn't a normal noise to hear in the park... her heart picked up speed slightly. Why, oh why hadn't she gotten back before dark?
But still... It might just be a rabbit or something, nothing to worry about.
"Hello? Is... someone there?" she asked, stepping towards the bush carefully. Her pack was clutched closely in front of her with one hand; her other hand hesitantly lifted from her side a few inches, towards the bush.

The bushes rustled for a few more seconds, before parting to reveal a scared looking girl, possibly in her late teens. She was wearing a green sundress and a straw hat, under which tufts of neon blue hair could be seen. Looking around frantically, she seemed to spot Ume, and hurried towards her.
"Was... was that you?" she asked, noticably out of breath.

Ume was filled with relief. It was just another girl! Maybe they could walk out of the park together...
"Was what me? I thought it was you... wasn't it? Why were you in the bush, anyway?" she asked as the girl approached.

"Hiding!" the girl squealed, grasping Ume's hands tightly. "If it wasn't you, it must still be after me! It might get us!"
The words were chosen carefully, and spoken in a well rehearsed, panicky and hysterical voice. Her next move was to tug her prey's hands with just the right amount of urgency. "Come on, if you stay it'll get you!"

The fear in the other girl's voice was infectious, and made Ume look around, scanning the shadows as her hands were grabbed.
She went willingly when tugged, saying, "There's something...? We should get out of the park, then! There will be more people on the street... they wouldn't attack in public, right?" she said, trying to sound braver than she felt. If there really was someone after the other girl... she hoped it wouldn't catch them. She had a mean right hook, but if it came to that, they were better off running.
"Let's run?" she suggested hesitantly.

Dango nearly laughed out loud, but that would have ruined the charade. Instead she allowed herself a small smirk, almost invisible in the shadow created by her hat. "Yes, let's run!" she panted, pulling on Ume's hand and starting to jog down the path. As she knew from investigating it beforehand, it only led deeper into the park. A perfect spot for an ambush.
With the pretense of looking over her shoulder, Dango flicked something behind her, and settled into the rhythm of running. It would catch up soon, and then that girl would be toast.

(( I let Faidrae know that she could come help Ume if she wanted... but Ume might have to transform on her own. ))
Ume followed the other girl, running easily alongside her, watching uneasily into the shadows as well as they ran. However, after only a little while, she noticed that they were going deeper into the park... not leaving it.
"Hey, hold on, we shouldn't go that way. Let's find a path that leads out, okay? We'll be safer where there's more people!" she said, and tugged on Dango's hand as a path appeared that led in the direction Ume wanted.
As she did so, however, her strangely sharp hearing picked up something approaching from behind.
Too late! she thought, and she half turned and slowed down to look behind her, to see what was coming through the shadows.

Yes, much too late. As Dango whirled around, her face frozen in a mask of faux horror, she was pleased to see that her Anima had found a suitable target. It looked like it was once a pidgeon, but now that pidgeon was swollen to an immense size, with savage looking claws and beak, and wings that it used to bat away anything that came near it. The beat was more confused than anything else, but that didn't stop it from being immensely destructive.
That done, the alien shot a glance at her prey. Hopefully the girl would be suitably frightened, and Dango planned on slipping away as soon as she could, leaving the Anima to its work. A bit elaborate, but definitely effective.
