Being a Cleric/summoner, I would probably use staffs/wands.
Staffs are a LOT better looking than wands. Thats just a fact.

Hammer or axe.
A dagger is very fast. And can be very strong.
But can a Dagger Pierce through a Armor rock monster?
A axe could.

Unless you're talking about maces, but those are ugly. I'm not touching one of those.

I'd either use:
A) Swords
B) Staff/Lance/Pole arm
C) Magic

If weapons affected how we fought, I'm sure swords would probably be the most popular. But for the look of my avatar, I'd probably have a staff or perhaps a giant chakram like Tifa in Soul Calibur 3.
