Arden-Olive
Kiyomaro-Dark Blue

Meeting One

A seeimngly faint gust of wind gently blew against Kiyomaro's face. It scented of ocean and sand, he noted as he made pawprints on the squishy, wet sand. He felt a little mopey today, like he was missing something. The craziness and randomosity of his old life slipped away from him the longer he stayed in Canthry. It was true there were some sparks of craziness, but Kiyomaro found it annoying there wasn't enough. He sighed as he shoved his hands in his pockets. The wind died for a split second and a much harder gust slapped Kiyomaro's tie to his face.

Without warning, something odd came flying down from the sky, A figure caughtit gracefully and twirled once, a large flag grasped firmly in her hands. Arden was practing a routine she'd known for a long time with her large array of flags. She tossed the cream-coloured flag so it spun around twice, a double. The wind picked up and blew the flag off course, hitting Kiyomaro in the head.

He stuffed the short tie back down and shuffled. Looking up, Kiyomaro expected a pale blue sky, but instead, a cream-colored one. The cream fell onto him with such great force, Kiyomaro was knocked back due to surprise. He rubbed his head furiously.
"What the he-?" he stopped mid-sentence to look at the attacker and narrowed his eyes inquisitively.
A flag?

Arden tumbled to the beach embarassedly and retrieved the flag, heaving her other equipment behind in a bag. She picked it up without looking at Kiyomaro and then looked around.
Oh s***. she thought as she propped the flag properly and adjusted the silk.
"Aw, jeez. I'm sorry."

Kiyomaro looked up at Arden and widened his eyes. Why on earth was he always running into girls in this town?! He had no skills with them and was almost an outcast amongst them. He retained his balance and watched the silk of the flag rustle.
"Um, yeah. That's......ok." He then looked back to Arden and grinned shyly.
"It's not exactly a proper way to greet people, throwing stuff at them. Why do you carry that around with you anyway?" he inquired.

"Because I'm a Guard Tech. Or rather a Colorguard Assistant." Arden tried to explain. She saw the confused look on Kiyomaro's face and growled softly. She had told this story too many times before.
"Look, you know what marching band is, right? We're the girls who spin flags along with the band at halftime shows." she paused to spin the flag in front of her; drop spins. Arden raised her eyebrows and stopped spinning to adjust the music note necklace around her neck.

Kiyomaro stared at Arden speechlessly for a minute or two, letting all this information process in his brain.
"Oh yeah, Colorguard......" he said uncertainly. Kiyomaro shifted his weight and stared at the jumble of weapons on the ground.
"Is there any particular reason you also carry around a gun ans a sword?!" he exclaimed with a jump.

"Oh, ha! That's just a rifle and saber. They're not real. We spin these too." she said as she bent down to the equipment and placed the flag down gently. She picked the rifle and began to spin it rapidly with a single hand. Arden accidently let it slighty slip from her hand and retrieved it with a blush.
"We have to be dancers too, that's fun too."

Kiyomaro raised his eyebrows as a sign he was impressed of Arden's commitment and talent as a Colorguard-er.
"You seem so knowledgeable about your passion." Kiyomaro intellgently complimented.
"Think you could teach me something?"

She looked out to the sky and blinked.
"Yeah. Sure! Just meet me in front of my house sometime and I'll teach ya." She reached into her pocket and took out an official Canthry map with her scribblings on it.
"Er, I don't need this much anymore. Just, my house is that yellow-roofed one..over there."
Arden exhaled and picked the equipment up and bundled them in a cradle in her arms. She walked off towards the city with a prideful stride.

Kiyomaro smiled at Arden and looked down at the map for the first time. The thing was completely undetectable except for a large circle around a yellow blob. Most of the map was covered, with music notes and sketches of her equipment.
"And I thought Suzy was weird."
