This won't be in the actual thread I'm going to post up what the new thread will look like here. This quote won't be included in the actual thread once it's put wherever it belongs. Note: I'm using MWashu's banners that she has on the first page already. So, if we can snag some better ones, then I'll use them. This thread was originally created by MWashu over a year ago. The Original FAAFN thread is one of the largest active threads outside of the Chatterbox forum with its 12,700+ pages. And after being plagued by many problems from Gaia, a decision was finally made to remake the thread. Hopefully, it will be as good, if not better than the original. It brings me much honour to present to you...

 FREE AVATAR ART FOR NEWBIES (FAAFN for short) is a thread dedicated to welcoming newbies to Gaia and helping them get into the flow of things. Newbies are welcome to hang out here regularly. We will answer all your questions and reward polite newbies with free avatar art and the random item or bit of gold. Avatar art can be very expensive. People make thousands off selling their art to those willing to pay the price, and many Gaians are. As a reward for newbies who know how to handle themselves on Gaia and contribute to the betterment of the site, artists from all over have volunteered to give free art to newbies--art that would usually cost hundreds of gold that newbies simply do not have. Plus, it's cool.

I'll keep the rules simple. Please follow all the rules and play nice.1: Of course, always follow the Gaian Terms of Service and the Rules and Guidelines. This includes the usual of no spamming, flaming, cybering, and whatever else breaks those codes of conduct. If you haven't yet read these, then it's advisable that you go do so. Now 3nodding 2: If you want art, follow these guidelines. The easiest, best, and most polite way to get art is not to come in, make a post along the lines of something like "u drw me plez thxbye" nonono. These requests will either be ignored, or the people making the posts will be asked to come and read rule number 2. If you want art, then simply come in, talk to the people here, become friends with the artists, and simply, just be nice, polite, and a little bit of humour never went too far astray either wink 3: The artists choose who to draw. So, if you reeeeaaaally want to be drawn by (Artist X), but are instead drawn by (Artist Y), then don't fret. As long as you're still classed as a newbie to the artist you like, then there's always a chance...4: Many of the artists have a life away from Gaia. While it would be awesome if there was one super-mega-artist-bot just churning out awesome picture after awesome picture for everyone who wanted art, this sadly isn't the case. Our artists have lives outside of Gaia, so they can't often can't afford the time, materials, or effort that it takes to draw everyone on a regular basis. But, even if you out-grow your newbie status, and you've become best friends with our favourite artist, then there's almost a 100% chance that s/he'll get you a picture or two done... 5: Come in and chat for a while. Even if you're not a newbie or artist, then come in and chat with us. We always appreciate strangers dropping by. After all, a stranger is merely a friend you haven't met yet ^_^ 6: Please do not PM an artist. That's just annoying and sometimes rude. Some bad reasons for PMing someone is to 'beg' for items, gold, art, and silly questions. If you ask a question in the thread, then chances are that you'll get two or three people answer it, sometimes more, sometimes less, depending on who is online 3nodding 7: Please use you own webspace to host your pictures. As it is, I know that my photobucket is getting quite full, and I don't need to be hosting pictures for you. (I actually had to make up a second account just for my signature pictures). If you're looking for an easy, free, and user-friendly place to host your images, then visit PhotoBucket. It's the best on the internet that I've found so far. 8: It is not the artists job to PM you when they've finished your picture. If an artist has deemed you worthy and has told you that they'll draw you, then be patient. When they finish, they'll most likely post a link up in the thread. If you're not online at the time, then chances are that if someone else sees it, they'll give you the link when you do get here. Simple, no? ^_^9: Watch what you post. This means that posts or images that stretch the page, excessive quote-nesting, posts all in CAPS, or 1337 speak isn't really appreciated around here. If you have a large picture to show, just post the link. Try to keep the quote-nests to 3 (4 at maximum), and remove the [ img ] tags if you quote a picture. Other than these simple guidelines, everything's pretty sweet wink Articubone Clears Things Up Alright, I'd like to take advantage of this being the second post by telling all those newbies who didn't read/understand the first post: The point of this thread is to talk. Not bump, not spam, not come in, say "Draw me" then leave immediately, but TALK. If an artist thinks you're worthy (ie, you've returned to this post over a few days, you try to use proper spelling, you've made friends with all the regulars) THEN we may decide to give you an artwork. In fact, there are so few newbies around, if you stay for a week and have DECENT UNDERSTANDABLE conversations, it's ALMOST a guarantee that you'll get artwork.

If you would like to volunteer your services for free giveaways, a Q&A official, a thread greeter, or any other service that would provide good, quality assistance to the thread and new newbies, please PM me with a description of the service you would like to employ and I will respond.King Nebuchadnezzar -- He will answer questions about various things around Gaia. You can Post or PM with any questions you want him to answer 3nodding
Rionastar -- She can 'show' you new guys around Gaia. She's often hanging around the Questions & Assistance forums, so she might know a few extra bits and pieces that others might not. She can also help you out with any signature problem you might have, and resize images so that they're acceptable under Gaian law 3nodding
Luvableteekerz -- He mostly is in the Welcome to Gaia forum. Although, when he does pop over he is another one to be welcoming newbies. He helps with answering questions, and maybe giving out random donations 3nodding
Centaura -- She's another old school FAAFNer. She can help out by helping newbies with questions that need answering, and the occasional random donation too. You may PM any questions you have to her as well, but please, don't PM her asking for art or donations. That's just rude. 3nodding
HypnoticSheep -- He can help people out by giving advice on how to go about questing for items. This doesn't mean that he'll dontate items or gold to you, but he can advise on where to set up your threads, how to set them up, and how to get more gold out of more people. 3nodding
nyo23 -- She will come in every so often and give some newbies a welcome poke here or there every so often. Yes. We have our own designated poker player (Pun intended xd )

This is where you can find a quick summary in no particular order of many of the crazy adventures that we had on the original thread. Bare in mind that there's over 12,700 pages, so please don't blame me if my brain got fried and I missed something sweatdrop
The War of Next Tuesday started by Shadolite, and fought with HD. Who could forget rampaging penguins? xd Nakey Day started by King Nebuchadnezzar. Well, I started it, Jace and Spaz picked it up and made it a tradition. Alas, people aren't that involved in Nakey Day than we used to be sweatdrop Avatarcentral's Sig-nazi-ism. One pixel over the 500x500 and you were on report stare Luvableteekerz 1k-per 100 pages gold contest and random donations. In the end he had to give up on the contest due to the fact that we were going through too many pages. But he still donated randomly at times. 4laugh Moving through about a hundred pages in less than an hour. Now that was vintage FAAFN. Ahh yes, good times...And very frantic too! cool SpazticDevil (Later BlackDraagon). One of the best ever people to grace the pages of the FAAFN. It's just a shame that he's no longer online. I'm sure that he's missed by all crying The raunchy playtime of Spaz and Nebby. We came oh so very close to being banned on numerous occasions whee All the art given out to newbies. Of course, this was the whole aim of the thread, even though it didn't seem like it at times... ninja Pong Chikako's Wedding with Nebby acting as the minister. Although he had to leave half way through the ceremony, it was resumed a few hours later. Rumours are abound that they didn't last too long because of that confused The ball held by Pong Chikako. He was originally holding it in celebration of his marriage, but was then made for his farewell to Gaia. I remember that Nebby made an a** out of himself, and got to dance with Centaura. Which would have made any persons day heart Jeanemon and her ever-changing wardrobe. Yeah, she has a lot of clothes. Although don't go begging for any. She's questing to get everything. Although she swears that she's getting better... wink Writing in white text and pretending no one else could read it. Heh, yeah we got away with so much thanks to the white text ninja Oh yeah, white text rox my sox! XD The constant flirtations between Centaura and King Nebuchadnezzar. Bugger off, she's mine! whee
The Big Huge Hurtee Sword of Nebby. It's what is used when people step out of line. It has thwacked many-a-n00b in its time, and is often brought up in the recent white text discussions between Centy and Nebby wink
Saku and her plushies were a favourite commodity at one time. Even more coveted than Gaia Gold whee
Nyo and her poking finger could out-poke even the most sturdiest of cattle prods xd
Tei had poolboys. You know, poolboys. And quite a few too, including Project Ego, Seina, HD, and HitokiriAdam. Devastation_Wagon and lalaland59 were trainee poolboys, while Nebby was one, but was fired for insubordination whee
The numerous fanclubs that we have running around. We had one for Zero Oxide, Aitaijini461, and Centaura. Although, it's beyond me why Nebby never had one... confused
Jeanemon being Nebby's first ever stalker. Which spawned a whole heap of Stalkers all around Gaia for me. But in time, she had to be upgraded to being a Stalker Ninja because she was so damn good at it whee
The many clones of Nebby consisted of anyone who came into the FAAFN with the guys' grey flow hair. Of course, that was one of the coolest hairstyles a guy has to pick from when he starts, so there was a fair amount of Nebby-clones running around... xd
Rinoa? I can't even try to count how many times Rionastar's name has been confused for Rinoa from FF8. I'm glad that I've got an easy name to remember ninja
The AIM chats that were made up for when Gaia was not working for a length of time. Those were fun, because conventional rules no longer applied there wink
The picture nights where random people who were online would all post up pictures of themselves. It only happened a handful of times, but it was quite good to finally put some faces to some posters 3nodding
And the quiz days where everyone just took random internet quizzes found around the internet and posted up the results. That led to some interesting truths xd
Long Island, the place with the biggest contingent of FAAFNers. Ever whee
The massive beaver invasion that Supa started, soon followed by Centy, and then a few others... ninja
The muffin man! AKA Sheepy. At one stage, he made avatar edits for all the FAAFNers. And there were quite a few of them too whee
Find your first post! This was a quest undertaken by various people after they had been on the FAAFN for a few months of so. And back in the day, a few months could have equalled a few thousand posts. So for many of us, we were never seen for a few hours or so. Either that, or the search parties were sent out blaugh
Nebby explodes quite a lot. But thankfully, a few rolls of duct tape fixes him up good as new. That's how he got one of his nicknames whee

Well, guys, I didn't want to, but it seems that we need one. If you break the rules and I find out about it, *thwap* up your name goes on the Blacklist. And if your name's on the Blacklist, you cannot get gold, items, or art from any of the artists and you are declared ineligible for any contests. In other words, if your name's up here, we don't like you no more! Go away!
Although the good news is that with a new thread, the slate has been wiped clean 3nodding

Anyone who is not a newbie but wants art anyway and wouldn't mind supporting the artists who are very generously giving their time and skill to a Worthy Cause, I doubt the artists would mind if you PMed them with an offer in gold for some nice art. ^_^
Also, if anyone out there would like to offer up their skills for the sake of the Worthy Cause, then feel free to PM me with your offer, and I will add you to my list of artists or benefactors. Any and all participation would be greatly appreciated by all of us here at teh FAAFN and all the Worthy newbies out there! heart
Note that any art drawn is the original work of the original artist. This means that stealing or unauthorized editing of an artists work will not be tolerated.

Free Avatar Art For Newbies; The Guild
This is the guild for the FAAFN. It's basically a place where you can see the artwork of many of the past and present artists for the FAAFN. And it's not a bad spot to hang out either...
This is King Nebuchadnezzar's art trade thread. If you're not sure what an art trade is, it's where two artists draw a picture for each other and swap, instead of one person paying gold for a piece of art. So, if you have some skills with a pencil, pen, mouse, tablet, whatever, why not head over there? Nebby's always looking for more art...

Aitaijini461 - Aka Aitai, Jin. She's one of the best artists to see the FAAFN. And she's a cool person too!
Articubone - Aka Arti. She's an ancient member. Although she is not around the FAAFN lately, we'll always welcome her back!
Altimar Zero - Aka Atli, Atlimar. Another ancient FAAFNer. Like Arti, he'll always be welcome on our pages.
avatarcentral - Aka Ava, AC. The sig-nazi extraordinaire. If you step out of line, he won't hesitate to let you know about it.
BlackDraagon - Aka Spaz, BD. What can I say? The best FAAFNer. Ever. We all hope that he returns to the internet soon. And who knows. If he was still around here today, he could be the one writing this up instead of me.
Centaura - Aka Cent, Centy, Eblan, Ebly, Centies, Cen, Cen-Lady, Official Drama Queen of the FAAFN. First posted on page 1824. Nebby's main squeeze, she's another of the great artists of the FAAFN. And her own fan club proves it. And even though she thinks that her own art is not that great, she's always greeted by waves of disagreement. After all, it is pretty awesome, just like she is.
CrystalFeather - Aka Meggo. An old FAAFNer with a new name. She was gone for a bit, but now she's back!
devastation_wagon - Aka Deva, DW. He's an old retired FAAFNer. Another casualty of RL.
Diamond_Wales - Aka Diamond. She's another cool FAAFNer. Although she's no longer around, she's still one of the coolest.
Dj Rainbow Brite - Aka DJ, Lite Brite. What can I say? DJ is DJ. She's one of the best FAAFNers around, but too bad she's taking an extended break from Gaia at the moment.
Fae08 - Aka Fae. Alas, Fae hasn't been around for a long time. Although in her prime, she was a pretty cool FAAFNer too.
Holydragoon - Aka HD. No this is an ancient FAAFNers. He's one of the oldest FAAFN members around, and he's still going strong.
HypnoticSheep - Aka Hypno, Sheepy, The Muffin Man. First posted on page 800. He may be young, but he's pretty talented. Another of the FAAFNers' more talented people.
Irial - Master Artist. Yup. Master. He is one of the top artists around, and his avatar edits were nothing to be scoffed at either. It's a shame that he doesn't frequent us anymore though.
jace scott - Aka Jace, Jacey-Jace. Another oldbie. Although not an artist, she just goes to show that you don't need to be a newbie or an artist to be popular around these parts.
Jeanemon - Aka Self-Proclaimed Princess of the FAAFN, Nebby's Stalking Ninja, Changing-whore, item whore extraordinaire, Jeane. First posted on page 1743. There are just too many words to describe Jeane. Although probably not as many words as she has items in her closets.
JelloG0ldfish - Aka Jello. She's an old FAAFN member. She had to retire after several things impeded her being around. But she'll always be with us, even if you don't know it.
Kimberly Daniels - Aka Kim, Kimmy. She was one of the first ever posters on the FAAFN. And she has a purple name too. Although it's a shame that she's stuck in the WtG forum.
King Nebuchadnezzar - Aka Neb, Nebby, Nebs, Nebsly, Nebbles, Nebster, Doctor Neb, Dork, Nibbles, Nebbles, Nippy, Duct Tape, Pimp, Nebbies, Noodles, NeNe, Nebiwhosajiggawhatzer, Popcorn, Applicious, Aussie Jesus, Teh Awesomesserest. First posted on page 429. Need I have to write up anything here for the ancient, venerable, wise, experienced, egotistical, maniacal, pimpin', exploding, weird, crazy old man? Well, of course! 'Cause if I don't he'll probably kill me. So let's just leave it at the fact that he's the supposed leader of this here thread, has gotten it out of more than a few slumps, and one of the coolest people on Gaia. But you're out of luck ladies, this man's spoken for.
King Neb the 2nd - This is the guy who is shared by MWashu and King Nebuchadnezzar to captain the FAAFN Guild. He was originally created after King Neb the 1st got hacked. Which was one of the biggest factors for a few of his breaks from Gaia.
lalaland59 - Aka Lala, Lulu. Alas, another victim of the dreaded RL. If you do see him however, give him a glomp from the FAAFN.
luvableteekerz - Aka Teekz, Luva. He's perhaps the only person to be more awesome than Neb is. He's smart, cool, and gives out random donations. Not to mention that he's another of the FAAFN ancients.
Malissen - Aka Mal. Mal caused perhaps the most amount of chaos and confusion on the FAAFN in my entire time being here. With a chick for an avatar, many potential suitors were broken hearted when they found out the she was really a he. FAAFN's own little transvestite.
Midoriwa - Aka Mid, Mido. First posted on page 9865. While she's not as old as some of the other regulars, she's still a pretty cool person. She's stuck throughout the FAAFN in its recent slumps.
mute-gibberish - Aka Mute, Gibby. Gibby is weird. No other words can say. Although, she does have an eye for art, and is another of the FAAFN's featured artists.
MWashu - Aka Boss-lady. First posted on page 1. The matriarch of the FAAFN. She started this whole shebang. Originally she thought that it'd be nice to hand out one or two pieces of art for a few people. But I don't think that she ever dreamed that this would be the product.
N.A.L. - Not much can be said about NAL, except for the fact that she too has been a trooper, seeing as how she came in during one of the FAAFN's biggest slumps.
Naphtali - Aka Naph. Another old member. He was an okay guy, too bad he doesn't hang out with us any more.
nashuto - Aka Nash. Nash is an up and coming FAAFNer. Given a few months and some serious psychiatric reconstructing, he could be the next FAAFN superstar. Maybe.
nyo23 - Aka Nyo. Not many things can be said about Nyo that would do her justice. She's one of the oldest FAAFNers still around today, even though she's no longer around the FAAFN. Which is a shame, because who else could poke Neb into submission like she could?
Poldi - Alas, no one has heard hide nor hair of this damsel. She was a crazy chick with a cool attitude. Hopefully she'll be around in the future.
Pong Chikako - Aka Pong, Pongy. Ahh, Pong! At first, Neb and Pong got on like oil and water. But soon they grew to be good friends. But really, he's a cool guy, and held one of the FAAFN's most memorable moments. And he still comes around every so often. But not often enough.
rionastar - Aka Riona, Rio, Rion, Rin, Rinny, Rin-Rin, Star, Foxxy Bunny Viking Kitty. First posted on page 1136. Rio is one of the few people who could keep up with the FAAFN when it was in full swing. And her speed is only matched with the fact that she's one of Gaia's most coolest.
SakuSatinam - Aka Saku mostly. But she's also had so many name changes that I thought I'd put up her first one. At one stage she was adopted by Neb as her little sister. She was a bright and bubbly little spark, but alas, she grew away from the FAAFN many months ago, and will always be sorely missed. First posted on page 3.
Seina_Takashi - Aka Seina, Tak. Ahh yes. Seina was another of the FAAFN's greats. He tried to make a comeback a few months ago, but it never panned out. Too bad he's not around these days though.
SephirothsMinion - Aka Seph, Sephy, Nebby Clone 2. Sephy was cool. Oh sure he was a lot of other things too, but he always had his own sense of humour about him.
Shadolite (ShadoKiller) - Aka Shado. If anyone needs to ask who Shado is, then they need a good smack. She's one of FAAFN's oldbies. Even though she has taken a few breaks and a few name changes, she'll always be the one who hid the holes.
Supah - Supah was cool..At first he was always confused with Supa, but we all worked it out. After all, he was a pretty good artist too.
Supa Ghost - Aka Supa, Nebby Clone 1. Supa was just cool. No other way to say it. And he took the whole Nebby Clone thing in stride too.
Tei - Tei's a pretty cool lass. She's plagued by RL problems, but always used to find time to hang around with us. And she makes an appearance every now and then, but not nearly as much as she should.
Tetrarch - Aka Tet. Another of the FAAFN ancients, Tet was also a pretty cool artist too. She was never really around much when I was, but when she was, anyone would say that she was pretty fun.
Tinkerbelle Gone Bad - Aka Tink, Tinks. Alas, I never got the chance to meet Tink more than a handful of times. But like Tet, she was pretty cool when we did speak, and a pretty good artist if you listen to the rumours too.
The Swordmaker - Aka TS, Sword. Now known as Sandalphon The Grey. This guy is a wizard when it comes to avatar edits. A few people like Irial and Sheepy have come close, but there's no way that they could touch him.
Thugsrus - - Aka Thugs. Another avatar editing artist, he was not always popular with some people, but he does deserve to be mentioned here.
Trea - She's another old FAAFNer. Oh sure, she's still around on Gaia, but she has moved on to bigger and better things. The last news was that she had even found love in a fellow Gaian.
Trixstir - Aka Trix. Another old FAAFNer, Trix was always around when things were slow. Not saying that he caused the slowness. But then again...
Vanslaz - Aka Van. Van was a guy who you could wrap up in one word. Plain. But that's what made him so special. He was so plain that it was freaky cool.
Xilo Pryce - Aka Xilo, Xi, Xi man. First posted on page 1794. Another of FAAFNs greats. While he's only a fledgling artist, he is also one of the FAAFN's oldest active members still going strong.
y2ktbug2004 - Aka Kt, Took. She seems to have disappeared over the past few weeks. But, she assures us that she's not going anywhere anytime soon....
Younata - Aka Youn, Nata. Another one that has succumb to the harshness of RL. But she did return, but she never really returned to the FAAFN. You can see her running about in the Avatar Talk forum these days.
Yun - Yun is just, cool. Even though she hasn't been around for a while, she has to be the person who has had the one outfit for the most amount of time while still being active.
Zefer - Aka Zef. He's an up and coming artist. He's another oldbie, but he has only started to draw recently. Although, like me in my old days, he likes things to be perfect before he lets people see. And also like I used to be, he's scrapped a lot of drawings.

Special Days!
Nakey Day: There's a tradition started so long ago that on each Saturday anyone on the FAAFN must wear the bare essentials. ie, strip their avatar down to their underoos and spend the whole time on the FAAFN in barely anything else. blaugh
Memorial Day: It's going to be a new tradition. I'm not sure when or what it'll be yet, so that's why I'm taking suggestions...But it will be held in memorial of the old FAAFN. confused
Picture Day: Also another possible new tradition. This is where the people of the FAAFN post up pictures of their RL selves. It will be held on the 3rd of each month. Note that people don't need to partake in the activity if they don't want to. But it is pretty cool.
But, I was thinking. What if the 3rd of the month is a Saturday... wink

Nice Newbies!
This is where any newbies that we spot who follow the rules, have fun, and make friends go. Anyone on this list is almost guranteed a piece of art!
This won't be in the actual thread Okay, so far we need to do something about these: 1 - Let me know what you think, and if there's anything that I should add/change/remove 2 - Post up what your best experiences are (Good or bad), what you think is just classic, and what you want to be remembered. Doesn't matter what it is....If it's memorable, then let me know and I'll edit it in 3 - I'm going to start compiling a list of names of all the regulars, past and present. So post up the names of regulars who you remember (Doesn't have to be their full or proper name, but it does help) 4 - If an artists wants to be in the Artist list, then PM me with a sample, what sort of art you do, and how often you'll give away art. 5 - If you want to be a helper, then let me know how you can help the newbies, and I'll put you in the helper list 3nodding 6 - Getting some banner up on the first page. Let me know if you're willing to do some yourself, or if I should make a thread up on the Art Freebies forum. If it comes down to it, I'll gladly fork over the gold to get a comission job And that covers it at the moment I think...
