Dante wandered along aimlessly, it was just another day. No different from yesterday or the day before. No different from the rest. Just the way he liked it. The sun was shining slightly above him, making the snow a tad slippery. He made his way to the somewhat frozen stream and hopped across with gentle ease. His dark form stood out against the white snow, at least he wasn't brightly colored...
Dante stopped by a leafless snow covered tree to rest a bit. He wanted to snack on something, maybe berries or something. But they'd all be shriveled up and frozen, yeah, winter was pretty to look at...but winter meant snow and ice. "Ice" stood for "purity", but it also stood for "death".

Ears flattening, the ivorn figure padded towards the nearest tree, curling down a bit beneath it. Ameterasu was not one to enjoy the wintertime. She preferred spring over anything else, where she could watch the flowers bloom, or Autumn, where the colored leaves fluttered towards the ground.
Winter reminded her of death. Death of all the plants around her, and though life could not be what it was without death, that still didn't mean she had to like it.
Shivering a bit, the Epona glanced down at herself. Her pelt would have been almost invisible against the pure snow, if it were not for the hues of red streaking her fur, and her firey eyes. The female curled up a bit, wrapping her tail tightly against her torso.
Oh, why did she wander outside?

Dante stood up after a moment of resting and something caught his eye. At first, all his emerald eyes could see was red. Automatically, he assumed it was a rabbit. A bloody one. Possibly dead. Or dying.
Oh my gosh! Poor bunny!
Dante didn't exactly seem like the kind of Epona that cared for the fuzzy creatures, such as bunnies and kitties and blah blah blah. But he cared for everything that lived pratically.
Racing over to the "bloody mess", he gasped, it wasn't a bunny. It was actually rather large...and blended in almost perfectly. Dante stared at "it" for quite some time before replying, "My bad. I mistook you for something else."

Ameterasu blinked in surprise, turning her gaze towards the Epona that had suddenly raced over to her. For a moment, she was silent, before a small smile tugged on her maw.
'It's alright...' Her voice seemed to echo through the male's head. Along with this, the female's maw had never moved, never indicating that she had spoken. Rising, she shook off any bits of snow that had found it's way into her fur, and then gave a small nod of her head.
'My name is Ameterasu. May I know yours, sir?' She asked politely. Again, though her voice was heard, her mouth did not move. Nor, did it seem, did anything else hear it. Birds that twittered on branches of leafless trees did not seemed phased by the odd, echoing, wind-like voice.

Dante looked around rather dumbfounded, was that his imagination? Was he hearing things? Or maybe...she was a hallucination! He shook his head and nodded slightly.
"Ameterasu...Hm, lovely...ah...name. My name is Dante miss." He bowed his head slightly as a sign of respect and sighed slightly. Was he the only one that heard the rather eerie voice? What about the birds and all the other creatures around them?
This was out of the ordinary, it wans't like his typical day. Usually, something like this would've put Dante in a gloomy mood, he-as everyone knew-did not like change. He-unlike most-was fine with the same old thing happening every single day. But he was infact not unhappy with the sudden change....awkwardly enough.

Assuming that he may have been confused about her voice, Ameterasu seemed to laugh softly.
'Pleasure to meet you, Dante.' She swiftly gave another, polite bow of her head.
'I'm sure your wondering about my way of speaking...' Shifting a bit, she continued. 'You see, I'm mute.' She paused for a moment, to let this sink in.
'Thus,' She continued again, 'I have found a different way to speak...whether to call this a blessing, and oddity, or what, this is the only way someone like I may speak.'

Dante frowned slightly, "Mute...?" It saddened him to know that some creatures out their suffered from various.....ah...things. Such as disease or being deaf or even a broken heart.
"That's too bad eh...? I'd hate to not be able to talk. Because I'd absolutely hate to not be able to express my feelings," He smiled warmly, "Well, at least you found a different way...no matter how...uh...'magical' it may seem."
Dante looked around a tad absent mindedly, "So, what brings you out here...into the frosty forest of doom?" He laughed softly and shook his head, as if it was some sort of inside joke. Dante was a weird one indeed.

Offering him one of her own, small smiles, she nodded her head in agreement. 'My life would be quite a bit harder if I could not speak like this...' She admitted.
Being brought down to Earth, she glanced about, a shiver running through her body at the sight of all the snow. 'I thought I'd wander out for a bit...unfortunately, I'm not quite sure where I am anymore, and I guess you can say that I am not exactly fond of snow...' She shook her head a bit.
'And you, Dante? Why are you out here?' She couldn't really see why anyone would be out here in the cold, unless they enjoyed the winter. Which...she didn't really.

Dante shrugged, "I live here. I don't really mind the snow. One thing I do despise is the city," he frowned slightly-a rare thing for Dante, "It's always changing."
He gasped a bit, "Oh, so you're lost...?" The forest in the winter was such a cruel place, snow blanketed the entire forest, every snow-covered tree looked the same.
His long, white and pinkish tail swished across the surface of the snow, "Hm, well, snow isn't all to bad. It's nice and quiet here."

The female blinked, tilting her head and furrowing her brows. 'But...the Earth changes as well, doesn't it? From night, to day? From Spring, to Summer, to Autumn, and then winter?' She pointed this out quietly. It was impossible to escape change. It was like fate.
At this, she nodded her head a bit weakly, offering a small smile. 'Indeed I am...I don't quite know how I ended up getting lost but...' She trailed off, giving a shake of her head.
Laying down on the snow, she glanced down at it. It seemed to sparkle in the dim light that found it's way through the hundreds of trees. 'I suppose so...'

Dante laughed slightly, "True. The Earth is always changing. But every year, it's the same seasons. Every Spring is just about the same, every Winter is just about the sames. I mean, it's not like next year we're going to have some kind of new season suddenly."
"Well, if you're lost...I might be able to...uh...get you un-lost." He thought about it for a few seconds, "I should rephrase that, oh well."
He tilted his head to one side once again, "You suppose so...?" He plopped down in the icy snow and sighed, "Oh well. Sometimes it is a little too quiet. Winter is a tad on the eerie side."

'And what about us Epona?' She tilted her head a bit, and sighed. 'We grow old, and sometimes our personalities will change as well, but it doesn't ALWAYS happen. The world and all living creatures are unpredictable...' Her inner voice had lost the echo a it, and was softer now.
Emitting a soft laugh, she smiled at Dante, rising up once again, and giving a small bow of her head. "That would be helpful." She said, with a delicate nod of her head, her tail sweeping across the snow.
"Yes..." Ameterasu then agreed. "I am more of a spring Epona myself. The flowers and plants do wonders on my happiness level...' She admitted, with a grin.

Dante blinked at Ameterasu, he had never really thought about that, "Hm, I suppose you have a point. But...when you live alone, you don't really notice others change...or changes in yourself."
He made a bowing motion with his head, "Well, let us go then. Where did you come from anyways? I mean, the city, the town, blah blah blah."
He let out a little yawn and shrugged, glancing about with his emerald eyes, "True. Spring is a very...happy sort of season. Everything comes to life in the Spring."

'You...live alone?' She asked softly, frowning a bit. 'Does it not get lonely then? To not have any company, other than your own?' Ameterasu had been taken in by a large family, after they found her wandering about on her own one day.
"Aah, I live right at the edge of the forest, in a large house. I don't quite know why my...guardian chose to live in such a place, as she is but a mere human, but I am happy to live so close to nature.'
Offering a small smile and nod of her head, she emitted a soft, happy sigh at the momeries of spring. 'It is indeed, and it's achingly beautiful...'

Dante nodded in a rather perky way, "Yup. Lonely? Eh...sometimes, but not all the time. I mean, yeah, sometimes I'll sit there and think about it. But...it doesn't bother me a lot..." He thought about it for a few seconds before adding rather happily, "Oh well. I really don't mind."
"The edge of the forest eh? ...Oh! that house." He began walking away, in a very sluggish manner, so that Ameterasu could catch up, "A human? What's it like....living with a human? Ah! That's good, that even though you live with a ahuman, you're still close to nature. The best of both worlds!"
He tilted his head to one side, "Wow, you like Spring that much? I like it and all but, I'd rather not get too attached to...ah, things in this world." Awkwardly enough, a dark little shadow appeared on Dante's face, "Afterall, if I'm too atatched to this world it'll be hard for my soul to pass on," He then grinned and chuckled softly, "Joking."
