So, some of you may have seen Incubus on Decades Rock with the Pretenders Friday (Oct 20) on VH1 Classic. Frankly, despite the fact that the part they did show of Incubus was awesome, me and my friends who watched it were pretty pissed off at the fact that it only showed Incubus on 2 of the 7 (or so I am told) tracks they actaully played plus one at the end with the whole ensamble (Iggy Pop, Kings Of Leon, that singer from Garbage I think, and the Pretenders)... And the Incubus song that they did play was Drive of all things. I was hoping to see something a little different you know, but I guess that is the mainstream of mainstream hits they've had. But my thoughts:

It was a really really good version of Drive. I think they are a whole lot more mature and Mike in that jacket looked really serious. But just insturmentally speaking their sound was very clear and tongether, and they all looked a lot more mature then last time I saw them on anything (except Jose in a kiddy looking baseball cap). And then on Message of Love (I think) they were also really really good, so I'm excited to see how their new album takes shape. Those two songs were really cool, and if you can find them on youtube, you should check em out.

However, the show as a whole was very disappointing. I had seen Decades Rock with Elvis Costello (who I love) and a bunch of people I'm not so familiar with musically (Fiona Apple and Death Cab) or don't like (Billy Joe of Green terrible Day) and that was still a great show. Elvis had the guests on just about every song, but with the Pretenders, about half the show was just them without anyone cool. So that was pretty lame. And then as a band, I don't really like them to begin with. I didn't realize that their vocalist was the same one from Neither Of Us Can See, because she sounded 1000 times better on that then on this show. Also Iggy Pop is horrendously disgusting, but that goes without saying.

I just wish they had shown more Incubus.

If you or any of your friends get VH1 Classic, I think it comes on on that channel occationally.
