I managed to get hold of 2 of their albums today: II=I and Chimera.

First listen through: I like.

Will be spending the next few days getting to know the albums a bit better, anyone here listen to them?

It has elements (well to me) of a whole lot of bands.

Too early to say, I will give them another listen to when I get home. .. I'm at the Uni library at the moment, should be studying.. stressed

They're a prog metal band from Sweden.

Ack! I forgot to update on my listening.

Yes, I gave the albums a second... third... possibly more times listen through. My favourite song off the Chimera album is Inner Circle.

But yes, I'm glad you gave them a listen too! (And trusting my recommendation lol ).

Chimera?.. that's a new album then?..

I only got their first two albums. Both rock. biggrin
Saw them live a couple of times at Propower Europe, they kick a** live as well despite their übertechnical stuff. whee

I hate the Swedes for all the awesome bands they have!! domokun

I bet there are plenty of places one can download stuff but I rather buy the albums to decorate my shelf. wink

But while waiting for the purchase, I might just check some songs to hear whether it's good enough for spending my hard-earned dimes. whee

most of us do that.
but cd's can be expensive or (very) hard to get.

having a real cd is much nicer then downloading stuff, but you can't just buy anything sweatdrop

Yeah, I know. That's my normal way of doing things:
1. Download a few tracks to see if it's good.
2. If it's good I'll buy it
3. If it's good but not necessarily worth my money, I'll just download it
4. If it's crap I'll delete it from my HD and try to forget ever hearing it. wink

Especially in the field of progressive metal where the sales numbers aren't that big, I feel it is my responsibility to support the band that I like. I don't care if I download music from the mainstream bands because it's not like they'll be poor after it, but with less known bands, I think it's important to give them that extra penny. whee

then you can use paypal too, most of the times wink
(but i gues you want something back)

i never saw anything of andromeda in a store..
PostPosted: Tue Jan 09, 2007 2:59 am

Though I know Paypal is safe, I've become very cautious about online purchasing because my credit card information was stolen some time back and someone stole me some 300€ from it before I could shut the card down. sweatdrop

Anyway, we have a few good record stores in Finland that have mainly less-known bands in their inventory. That's where I've bought most of my CD's. Also, there are some online stores that deliver the cd's first and have a bill with them - and you only pay the bill afterwards (much safer than paying with credit card).

After being reminded of Andromeda, I actually took my II=I cd and listened to it quite a bit yesterday while driving around. It's really an awesome album! Such a good blend of technical playing and good composing and melodies. whee
