Never heard of them as I only slightly care for the Metal genre, which everyone seems to have their own opinion in which is deemed "real metal". I suppose i'll look into it later on when I get a free chance.

Spiral Architect's bassist is a badass. Spiral Architect sounds like you get 2 swedish metal guitarist, Bruce Dickenson singing, and Jaco Pastorius playing bass.
Those guys....and a more recent band uneXpect.

If you want some really stuff to play, try playing Cannibal Corpse( death metal band). Alex Webster is among the fastest bass players around. And the amazing thing is, he doesnt use a pick. Just listen to Hammered Smashed Face and there is a bass solo about 30 seconds into it.That is some hard and fast s**t

How about some old Death when Terry Butler played and then Steve DiGiorgio took over.... both bassist did'nt use a pick and played some technical stuff. Trivium is'nt bad but in my opinion I think that it's pretty easy... he doe'snt do any of the arpeggios or anything the guitarists do. He still holds the rtyhm well.

Just listen to Hammered Smashed Face and there is a bass solo about 30 seconds into it.That is some hard and fast s**t its way easier to play with fingers fast. you can use three plucks consecutavly insted of two. its like a double bass drum pedal for the bass guitar. slap can get even faster. good metal bassist from children of bodom is crazy.

Not a big fan of em. But there pretty good. Iron Maiden bass lines and some Iced Earth bass lines can be kinda hard.
