Chapter 1
Darkness falls on the mausoleum, the cry of a dove outside the building echoes through the night as all light fails except the one inside the building, the figure of a man standing at the side of another figure can be seen.
“What have I done?” the man said as blood trickled down his hands “this has to be a dream, no not him, anyone but him”. A puddle grew on the floor, a hybrid of his friend’s blood and his own tears. “Four centuries, FOUR HUNDRED ******** YEARS!” He falls to the floor next to his friend.
“Kyle, it’s not your fault” a young red headed girl comes out of the shadows, “he attacked us, he basically handed to the spike”.
“Sophie, you don’t understand, I’ve known him longer then your family name has been around, didn’t you hear me FOUR centuries, hell we were bit in the same village”.
“I think I need to leave you alone for a while”. The young lady walks out, silence takes over
All he could think about was what just happened, how his best friend came after him, how he killed him. He was so lost in the affair that he didn’t hear the police officer come in.
“You! Get on the floor!” a booming voice came from behind. Kyle turned to see a man in a police uniform, gun drawn.
“I’m really not in the mood to kill you” Kyle returned, “and I’m sure that you have no idea what is going on anyway.”
“I SAID GET ON THE FLOOR, do it or die”
“Shoot me then you idiot”. The police officer opened fired, every shot hit Kyle on the back. The bullets seemed to bounce off his back. When the shots stopped, Kyle turned around to expose the deep black eyes with fiery red pupils.
Ohh my God, Y-You’re a vampire?! I’m sorry please don’t kill me, I have a wife and three kids at home, and…” Kyle sighed deeply, and interrupted.
“I already told you I don’t want to kill you. You’re not worth me killing two people in one night.” Then it hit him, I killed someone, I ended a life, he thought.
Silence again invaded the room.
“I-I need you to come with me” the cop sad almost whispering.
“Lemmie guess, ‘Vampire Correction’.
“That’s probably were you’ll end up”, the cop said gaining confidence, “you remember the act of 1889 ‘any vampire who kills…’”
“I’d suggest you don’t quote me laws that were written when I was alive, youngster. And I didn’t kill a human, I killed another vampire, you can tell by how there is more blood on the floor then usual.”
The cop flinched; he felt the danger and backed off.
“What happened, who is the guy?”
“His name is Colen, he is...” Kyle paused and closed his eyes, “was my best friend.”
The Cop looked on grimly. “What’s your name?”
“Kyle, Kyle Balick.”
“Well, Kyle, what happened”, the cop asked as he pulled out a pen and a piece of paper.
“Where do I start?”
"I dont know, its your life"
"WAS my life you mean. A stake is my life now."
Brushing the comment off the cop says,
“How about when you met, what you say Colen?”
“Yes Colon Boush”. The Police Officer wrote down the names.
“Continue please.”
“Ok, I met Colen exactly 416 years ago, still wanna hear the story”.
“Its my job, plus i might get some over time for it.”, The cop smiles untill he sees Kyles glareing eyes* .
"Whats your name cop?"
"Steven Roberts."
"Well Steven, your about to learn more about vampires then you ever wanted to know."Kyle began with a grim voice oddly sounding triumphant, like an old solider comming in from war.
