i got me a bulliten from myspace from this day & age, and they are being no more.. i almost cried when i read that.. when you love a band loads, it just sucks when they end it.. emo

yeah, I get that way too, sometimes...but not over bands, personally. I never get so attatched to an artist/band/professional athlete that I'd cry if ever they retired/broke up/died. I'd be like, "Aww, man, that's too bad. He still had a few years in him" or "their music was great", etc., but that's about it. I reminisce, then move on.
But, uh, yeah, that sucks, Liz. Did the bulletin say why they are no more?

well i didn't feel like crying cause i'm attached to them.. i just know that after two cd's they are ending it and i wont get awesome music that really works for me ya know? they have lyrics and stuff that really is what i feel and i love that when i find that in a band.. and only after two cd's, they just released there 2nd one in august..
Johny said he doesn't feel the same passion and love for it as he did in the beginning.. and he isn't putting his all into it anymore.. the other guys are still going to be playing together just not as this day & age.. so i'm hoping it will be like this day & age, but minus johny.. but i don't know why they can't just replace him you know? i mean why can't they? it wouldn't be the first time a band had to replace someone.. when they go off and record as something else.. they better give me the same songs as they did with this day & age..

Honestly, I view it as just an excuse to seperate themselves from their past musical incarnation and do something new. Take a look at Rage Against The Machine turning into Audioslave.

yeah that's true.. but its only one member who wants to seperate and forget about it.. that sucks.. there music better not change, it was good the way it was.. well it most likely will change, just hope it's not a lot..

Sometimes it might have to do with ownership rights or some such?? I know that's how it works with some games and some comics where if a certain individual, or groups of people, leave the project, the rest of the team cannot legally continue the project under the project name or some such...
Best example is the games Xenogears and Xenosaga; when the ppl who made Xenogears left, they couldn't legally make a 'Xenogears 2' because the rest of the team/company owned that title, so they just made a new game called 'Xenosaga'.
It may be something like that, in which case this guitarist has some sway over the marketing and ownership of some of the songs and trademarks of the band that was once 'This Day and Age', so the rest of the group might just decide to make a new band under a new name to avoid any legal actions?

well i understand that with certain things.. but usually when a band loses a certain member they just replace them.. usually that sorta thing really doesn't go with the band.. maybe some do, i'm not sure.. but they aren't a huge band, so i don't see why it would.. i dunno i just know it sucks..

Perhaps he was the creative inspiration of the band and without him as the driving force it would just not work?
