...zomg, my first post here!

Well, I just wanted to ask who introduced you to the works of Lovecraft (if someone did) and what was the first story you read. And I'm specially curious to know why did you liked it.

As for me, a small book with four Lovecraft stories appeared mysteriously in my bedroom, and the first one I read was Pickman's model. Then The outsider and then The Dunwich Horror.
Even though Pickman's model and The Outsider were kind of predictable, I liked the writting style. But when I read the Dunwich Horror, that was when I fell in love! All that theme with monsters and secret, dark knowledge, with a bit of action added at the end, and not mentioning, of course, the horror!
So I started to read more about the author and his works and I had all these information and ideas to talk about, but no one to share them with...

that's why I winded up in this guild o-O So now that I've finally asked, I'm really curious to know what you guys have to say ^^
And I'm sorry if something like this has been asked before, I looked around the forums and didn't found anything.

I was talking with Ciran and he starting talking about Cthulhu. I asked him about it and I looked it up and heart . Oh how could I resist! Call of Cthulhu was my first and then I started reading as many of the shorter stories as a could. The novellas took for ever so I saved most of them for when I had a lot of free time.

I'm hopping to introduce someone to Lovecraft's stories the way you were. And the thruth is I haven't read much, since I have to read the stories on the internet and boy do I get distracted sweatdrop But the ones that really catch my interest I print them out and read them during school recess. I'll probably end up making my own 'book' out of house printed pages...

*gasp* I'm touched, I had no idea I was the one that introduced you to Cthulhu. Well, I was talking to my friend Dan and he gave me a copy of Call of Cthulhu, which I read at midnight (BTW not a good idea ina completely silent house xd ) and that's where I fell in love with it.

That's what I did at first... and... until about a month ago. XD It's really a lot easier to just grab a book from a library or Borders, they're there, you just gotta look hard. Hell, even my anti-pagan library has all the Arkham Lovecraft Collection.

I don't think I've introduced anyone to Cthulhu, most of my friends are too lazy or cowardly to read through them.

I once tried looking for a book, but when I asked, they said they had ran out last year and hadn't re-stocked. The libraries in my country aren't very resoursfull(sp?). Thankfully I have the internet blaugh

(resourceful)

Ran out last year and didn't re-stock!? gonk Sucky. But hoorah for the internet! Imagine a time when there was no internet, and Emi would never have found her demon callings! o.o I'd probably be a sex-crazed uber-slut... for some reason.

xd yeah, I made the same mistake (reading at midnight in a silent house) with The Whisperer in Darkness. Took me a while to fall asleep...though I had the most interesting dreams I've had in a while oO.

I love just staying someplace really quiet and reading Lovecraft...I've been out of it though...Look around the guild; you'll probablly figure out why.

Anyways, my friend and co-founder...well, he only provided general overview of how the guild should be run (Miranis actually) introduced me to Lovecraft...He was just reading it one day. Avid reader, I just got interested...Then he started throwing quotes onto his away message and yea, with a link to dagonbytes. Next thing you know I'm reading that...story...which I can't think of the name of >> Aww crap...welll, the one with the fiddler dude on the really wierd street...The one with buildings leaning either way and such.

I got hooked, from there read call of cthulhu and yea...Now when I'm in school I walk around with Call of Cthulhu and other wierd stories and the thing on the doorstep, both by penguin...great books as well as stories written by contemporaries.

^^'' yea, but right now my favorite story's probablly Herbert West..I just fell in love with it >> ninja

Yah, you told me you why o-o

Haven't read that story that you, like, kinda talked about, but sounds interesting. And lately I've been walking 'round school with large printed pages with...what story was it?...the nameless city, I think, and writting subliminal messages on my classroom's white board. Everybody else is like 'The hell's a Soggoth?'

My favorite by far is The whisperer in Darkness. That thing was the very first story I've read that has really scared me o_o!

I no longer remember how I was introduced...

One of the first I read was "The Transition of Juan Romero" and I loved it.
