The Steinway Appreciation Thread!

Does anyone own a Steinway?

Also which other brands come close, or compare with Steinway?

I would say Bechstein and pre 1935 August Forster.

I want one!

Hmm.... I don't know too much about other brands though... I have Kemble, which is really good (I've only ever played on one better).

Vintage August Forster. 1920's. I think it is probably better than that Steinway I was telling you about. smile

I was playing one on thursday (orchestra day) at one of the local sixth form colleges. It was the only good thing in the room, the paint was coming off, it was damp and the windows didn't work.

My school grand has been repaired so it's not as crap now thankfully!

Haha! I don't have a school grand. All our pianos have been vandalised by chavs, but they are being repaired.

Ah, we have two in the music dept. one of which has broken keys and the other shakes if a play anything louder then mezzo forte.

There is another in the lecture room, which is ok, along with another grand which I really like.

Chavs just don't understand. They should all be burnt.
