It's about a girl Tohru Honda who loses her single mother and lives in a tent in the woods. Then she discovers she's living on Yuki Sohma's (the Prince of Ozikawa High) cousin's land. Yuki and his cousin Shigure help her out and she stays with them as like a maid/cook.

She soon finds out that if a member of the Sohma famly is hugged by someone of the opposite gender is hugged, they turn into an animal of the Chinese Zodiac! Super-cute.
