I love this book. It's been described as a gothic Alice in Wonderland.
A man lives in Scotland and moves to London. He lives comfortably in London for a few years, with a very successful girlfriend who declares them engaged about a year and a half into their relationship. One evening, as he was going to dinner with his fiancee, a young woman appears through a wall. She was bloody and homeless. Despite his girl's protests, he picks the young girl up and takes her to his house to heal her. [She refuses to go to the hospital.] Afterwards, strange events happen. Taxis ignore him, the Tube wouldn't let him on the train and no one at his work sees him! He then enters the world of London Below, filled with people who have fallen through the cracks of society.
It really is an interesting book. Do you think it sounds interesting?

Sounds very interesting. Who is it by? I'd like to check it out over Winter Break in 2 months. (I have no time to read now.)

Okay, I'll look it up. Once I can find a bookstore within walking distance, that is... I am in college in a small town, and I do not have a car.
