I got a Stephen Heller book a couple weeks back, and I have to say I really love his pieces. His melodies are absolutely addictive to me. Which doesn't really come as a surprise, seeing as he was a good friend of Chopin's. wink

Emmanuela It rings a bell.... What are his most famous pieces? I'm afraid I'm not quite sure. I've never heard anyone talk about him before recently. But my personal opinion is that his Opus 45 and Opus 46 have a certain vitality.

I'm currently learning one of his preludes. It's the C# minor, and it's gorgeous.

I've never actually explored Heller except for the occasional pieces that used to pop up in anthologies or exam compilations. Anyone got suggestions?

I'm learning an Etude of Heller's for my exams (only grade 6, how embarrassing. D; ). Practically the whole thing is in forte with sfz's everywhere. Very tiring, considering it only goes for 2 minutes. D: I've also heard a prelude in A minor, which wasn't particularly interesting.
