I want to know what you guys think about the veil. Where does it lead to? Can you come out? Can you attach a rope to someone, send them in, and pull them back out? Does it actually kill a person, or just seperate them from our demension?

Personally, I don't know... I think it seperates a person from our demension, and they have no means of coming back. Perhaps it even seperates their soul from their body, and dumps the soul in there, and leaves the body to rot somewhere near the entrance. That way would make most sense to me, so that Sirius would really be dead.

No, I don't think he's really dead.
I read in a recent interview with J.K.R. (shortly after the title for book seven came out) that it was very important to make that part of book five mysterious and the result of Sirius's fall into the veil vague.
While no one but J.K.R. herself really knows if his fall was actually the death of him, I must say that I think he will appear in book seven, if only for a brief moment.

I don't think we've seen the end of him completely either. And I think the two way mirror that was given to Harry will be brought back in last book as having some significance. It was a rather vague way to die and there were definitely whispering voices rather than silence so I think there will be further explanation somewhere in the final book.
