If a remake were to ever come out, what changes, if any, would you inflict upon our awesome LOD to make the remake even better?
I have always had a little list in my head...
-Be able to switch leaders (so I don't always have to fight with Dart) -Let Meru use some Wingly magic -Work on the translation/grammar/spelling -Let the Dragoons do more (Examples: Combining their magic with each other, transforming on the field, etc.) -If it were still on the PS1, I'd say more CGI scenes, but w/ the new systems, that isn't exactly a concern! -More sidequests -Maybe a different storyline... just maybe... like one where Lavitz doesn't have to die or where the bird doesn't chase you through the entire game...
Any ideas?

Well, it all seems like a nice idea, except I' make a few cahnges to yoru changes.
1- I don't think you should be able to change leaders. It'd completely make the point of Dart being the main character, pointless. Now, being able to choose to play different storylines, that'd be pretty nice. For example, starting out as Kongol while he's in the service of Emperor Diaz, adn then making our way up to the point where he fights Dart and ventually joins him, and continuing on from there. Like some 'secret' scenes that with the seperate characters that were never seen. Because think about it, I doubt everyone just stood around all day waiting for Dart to talk to them.
2- The only real Wingly spell was that fireball thing, and that's already Dart's Proffession.
3- It's a turn-based game, how would combining magic, or transforming while out of battle possibly effect the game in anyway? And if theres more to it than that, then please, by all means, do elaborate.
4- If a storyline where Lavitz doesn't die were created, then that'd just completely destroy the storyline, and you might as well go write your own fanfiction, because if you start saying, "What if Lavitz didn't die?" Then people will start syaing, "What if Rose had actually gotten Shana on the night on that boat, instead of that twin?" Or "What if Zieg hadn't been possesed?" Or "What if Dart were killed by the Green Dragon before he ever made it back to his hometown?" Questions like these, don't even bother with them. What ifs, never lead to any real conclusion, because there is no answer.

1. You can't lie; Dart gets really repetitive when you're forced to play as him over and over... I once had him screaming "Blazing Dynamo" in my head for a day! But what I was getting at is that the story wouldn't change, everything would play out as scripted, but Dart could take the occasional breather.
2. Another spell was flying; can't forget that. And Dart isn't Meru. I honestly feel bad for her character since everyone doesn't want to take the time to level her up since she comes along as a weak, silly girl. She already kicks enough arse when she's leveled up, but imagine how much more she could do if she was allowed to be her Wingly self (which would come in due time, of course, meaning it'd happen after her secret is revealed).
3. The first part's kind of a side-joke with me and some friends. There's several instances, but let's take Bale. There's a stardust after a long ride which happens after you get past a drunk. It'd be just as easy to jump over the basket which blocks your path into the stardust room, but Dart won't do that. So my friend went back there one day and began yelling at Dart, commanding him to transform. Another one is for Lavitz: Why didn't he bother to transform when he heard Bale was taken? Did he intend on running the entire way to save Albert? If he did, the story could've taken a twist... Second, the combining magic one would be neat, during battle, of course! Think if... let's say Meru and Haschel used their magic together; that'd be a pretty effective spell, if it was casted correctly. Or if Shana/Miranda and Meru combined healing powers... or if any of the Dragons worked together.
4. Hey, more storylines to play, huh? It's like if you were to beat the game once, you can open up/unlock more storylines! OOC, but wth is with Shana suddenly turning into a princess? IMO, that is the most pathetic twist, especially since it's not explained one bit.

1- True, he does, but he's the main character, deal with it.
2- Meru's wingly powers are still pretty uselss if you think about it. The real pwoer she has comes from her dragoon powers. Her wingly powers are diminshed, as are the powers of all winglies. Even Loyd retains from ever using his wingly abilities. The most any of them can do anymore is fly.
3- If they could transform out of combat, then that'd just completely take away all the fun about obstacles, and puzzles! And Lavitz didn't transform because he didn't choose to, simple as that. Even if it would've made all the difference, he chose not to. Don't ask why, you won't get an answer. You might as well ask yourself why you didn't do your homework, or why you ran into that door. People do irrational things, deal with it. And as for the combining thing... Perhaps in a hack-and-slash game that would be alright, but Legend of Dragoon is turn-based, i just wouldn't be right.
4- Well, Shana isn't a princess, it was prophesized that a child on a certain day would eb the Moon Child. And Shana and the princess girl were both born on the same exact day, so Rose thought that the princess was the Moon Child, but it was Shana. And I geuss they looked alike or something...

{1}I agree on the separate storylines: Dart is still the main character but there could be something like in FFVIII->Squall goes into a "dreamstate" and you get to play as *insert name 'cause I forgot it!* and his crew. That would give the players a chance to learn about the incoming members of their teams.
{2}Meru's pretty good, as Precious said, when she's leveled up. I mean, anyone with an extremely large hammer/mallet deserves to get recognition in the art of butt-kicking, right? As to her Wingly powers...maybe add one or two...sort of have her do some mission-based thing that requires the use of those powers to help out the team.
{3}Transformations out of combat would completely ruin the difficulty of the game...it would make battles way too easy if one hit could kill an enemy. However, it could work at different points in the game if the events force you to transform on the field (will come up with an example later)
{4}Combining powers would be cool, but how could it be done? I think that the team has to acquire artifacts that would allow them to do so, or they could have a KH2 thing where you can perform "Reactions" with different party members (different reactions depending on who's in your current party). These combinations could be 'leveled up' when performed right, rewards for quests completed (both side and main quests), or when the members involved are leveled up.
{5}As for Shana being a princess: Maybe they could explore her childhood, homeland, etc. And maybe something that ties in with her and her "twin" (princess and the pauper-esque)?

Here's another thing that they could do: Combat on dragonback! Those poor dragons are only seen when they appear in either cutscenes or when you summon them. Give the dragons a chance to flex their wings (and breathe fire upon their foes)! Or they could have players control the dragons for missions and such.

The only problem I ever had with the game was the fact that Meru is a Winglie like Lloyd, but yet when she transforms into dragoon she has dragon wings unlike Lloyd who has the uber cooler Wingly wings. I would also like to be able to play as Lloyd, I may be a guy, but I LUFFLES LLOYD! He is my all time favorite character! w00t!

It's rare to see a male avi say luffles... lol And I never noticed that about the wings. I would've preferred to see him in actual fairy-esque wings, but the glowy-ones work! Maybe give him a tiara... we should start an LOD-cross-dressers thread in the Art forum.

Commenting on the arguement earlier.
1. I would say stay with Dart, but I'd like it if you could switch him out and use three different people, like Rose, Meru and Kongol. Those were my 3 best people in the game.
2. Meru's powers would be weird... I wouldn't want them to be in a remake.
3. The combining powers thing is easy to grasp! Like when two people are in dragoon, have a command called, D-Combination and when someone uses that, they waste their turn and the other person when it is their turn can hit D-Combination and then it could be like The D-Magic and show a list of different combos and when you click on one, the two preform the combo attack. I got that Idea from Xenosaga 2.
as for my own changes, I'd say let llyod be a character, more additions, Change the look of the weapons when you equip different weapons, they look different! It'd be cool, and thats it...

The only reason I say "lufles" is because I am completely secure with my sexuality unlike some others... like this guy for example *points to the kid who sits behind him in math class who has a fear of anything that isn't masculin.*

The only things I'd change are the dialogue (including a few less "b*****d!"s- did anyone at Helena have a father?), a way bigger inventory, and a unique look for all the weapons and armor. Everything else was perfect the first time around. 3nodding
