I need some help. Awhile back I started to get to know someone that answered my personals ad in this guild. Things were going pretty good, but she wasn't quite what I had in mind personality wise. She wasn't quite...well I can't explain it in words. I just didn't feel like she could fit my personal needs online or offline. I just wanted to be friends with her. When I thought of this, I also thought I could just continue on and talk to her and see where it goes anyway, but then I realized I'd only be leading her on. Anyways, I asked her to IM me, so we could talk. She gets on and asks me what it was about and I said something like "Well, um....I don't want to lead you on, ok? But I don't think our relationship is going to go any further than just friends." Then I said I was sorry. She then says like "I'm sorry, too. But it's ok." "I won't bother you again." Then I was like "What? What do you mean? We're still friends right?" And she didn't respond. Then I checked my PMs on here and it was a message she had just sent before she IMed me on AIM and it said "Ok." Then I said "We're ok, right?" And she responded "Just leave me alone, please. I'm just a crazy immature woman that can't do anything right..."
I think she was probably at her computer in tears, so that has me sad for her. I didn't mean for her to take it so hard. We barely really knew each other as it was.
So, I'm asking "Will she get over this and will we be friends again?" "Did I say something wrong?" "Should I have done it sooner, later, or at all?" Any kind of input would be helpful. It's not like we had decided for sure that we were together. At the time I felt even from the first week that we were just friends getting to know each other until things developed.
