I am a 22 year old female who is overweight. I have been considered "overweight" my entire life, even as a baby. I have always had a healthy diet (thanks to my mother) and have gotten plenty of exercise, as I have been fairly athletic up until I left high school. After I left High School I became increasingly inactive and did not have the money to afford a proper diet, which eventually lead to morbid obesity.
Over the years I have tried various diets and stuck with them with absolutely no cheating. I was really dedicated to trying to lose my weight, but I would be so long on a diet and make no progress, I would just give up.
The only diet that ever worked for me, where I managed to lose 30 lbs. on, was the Atkins diet. However, I always felt all ill and urpy while I was on that diet, so I have only been on it a couple of times.
The problem with dieting is that people try to take away the balance. Every time I would go on a diet, I would stick to one thing and eat only that, despite how much my body tried to tell me it wanted something else.
Just the other day my Father's friend faxed us a diet he was on, which he had gotten from his Doctor. We were all feeling a little unhealthy (my Dad and I mostly) so my entire household decided to try the diet.
I have been on it for two days now and I am already starting to feel fantastic. I can wake up in the morning, I'm not nearly as agitated as I usually am, I don't feel depressed at all (which is a first in a long time) and I am actually starting to have confidence in this diet. After the first day I lost two pounds and after the second day I lost another pound. (And I haven't even been exercising yet!) It is currently my third day of being on the diet and I don't feel as if I need to be eating the crap I used to eat. I really feel like I am being detoxed. I can't wait to see how I feel at the end of the week!
This is such a perfect diet for someone on a low budget. You can make a massive amount of soup for very little cost. It costs a bit more for my household to make this soup, because we have to make a huge pot every day. However, following this recipe would give you enough to last one person pretty much the entire week. Make more if you need to though! According to the sheet from the Doctor, the more of this soup you eat, the more weight you will lose.
Anyway, if anyone is interested in this diet I have typed it up for you guys. Please give me your comments, opinions and input on what you think about this diet.
Personally, I think this is a healthy diet for anyone who wants to lose weight. If you have the weight to lose, I am sure you can lose it with this diet.
Here is what this new diet consists of:
DIET SOUP RECIPE
1 or 2 cans tomatoes 1 large can of beef broth (or 3 small cans) 1 Pkg. Lipton soup mix (chicken noodle) 1 bunch celery 2 cans green beans 2 lbs. Carrots 2 green bell peppers 1 large onion
Season with salt, pepper and parsley if desired. Cut veggies in small to medium pieces. Cover with water. Boil fast for 10 minutes then reduce to simmer & continue cooking until veggies are tender, approx. 1 hour. This soup can be eaten anytime you are hungry during the week. Eat as much as you want, whenever you want. This soup will not add calories, the more you eat the more you will lose. Fill a thermos in the morning if you will be away during the day.
FOR DRINKS: Unsweetened juices, tea, coffee, cranberry juice, skim milk or water-water-water!
DAY ONE Any fruit, except bananas. Cantaloupe and watermelon are lower in calories than most fruits. Eat only soup & fruit today.
DAY TWO All vegetables. Eat until you are stuffed with fresh raw cooked or canned veggies. Try to eat green leafy veggies & stay away from dry beans, peas, or corn. Eat veggies along with soup. At dinner time tonight reward yourself with a big baked potato & butter. Don't eat any fruit through today.
DAY THREE Eat all the soup, fruit & veggies you want. Do not have a baked potato. If you have eaten as above for 3 days & NOT CHEATED, you should find that you have lost 5-7 pounds.
DAY FOUR Bananas & skim milk. Eat at least 3 bananas & drink as much milk as you can today, along with the soup. Bananas are high in calories & carbohydrates as is the milk but on this particular day, your body will need the potassium & carbs. Proteins & calcium lesson the cravings for sweets.
DAY FIVE Beef & tomatoes. You may eat 10 to 20 ounces of beef & a can of tomatoes or as many as 6 tomatoes on this day. Eat the soup at least once today.
DAY SIX Beef & veggies, eat to your hearts content of the beef & veggies today. You can even have 2 to 3 steaks if you like with green leafy veggies but no baked potato. Be sure to eat the soup at least once today.
DAY SEVEN Brown rice, unsweetened fruit juice and veggies again, be sure to stuff yourself & eat the soup. You can add cooked veggies to rice if you wish.
By the end of the seventh day, if you have NOT CHEATED on this diet, you should have lost 10-17 pounds. If you lost more than 17 pounds stay off the diet for 2 days before resuming the diet again.
This diet is fast, fat burning & the secret is that you will burn more calories than you take in. It will flush your system of impurities and give you a feeling of well being. The diet does not lead itself to drinking any alcoholic beverages at any time. Because of the fat build up in your system. Go off the diet at least 14 hours before any intake of alcohol.
Because everyone's digestive system is different, this diet will effect everyone differently. After day 3 you will have more energy than when you began, if you do not cheat. After being on the diet for several days, you will find that your bowels movements have changed. Eat a cup of bran or fiber if you have problems. Although you can have black coffee with this diet, you will find that you don't need the caffeine after the 3rd day.
The basic fat burning soup can be eaten anytime you feel hungry during the seven days. Eat as much as you wish. Remember, the more you eat the more you will have lost. You can eat broiled, boiled or baked chicken instead of the beef. Absolutely no skin on the chicken. If you prefer, you can substitute broiled fish for the beef on only one of the beef days. You need the high protein in the beef for the other days.
Any prescribed medications will not hurt or affect you on this diet. Continue the diet plan as long as you wish and feel the difference both mentally & physically.
DO NOT - DO NOT No bread, alcohol, carbonated drinks, including diet drinks. Remember absolutely no fried foods.
DO -DO -DO -DO Drink plenty, at least 6 to 8 glasses of water a day, as well as any combination of the following beverages; black coffee, unsweetened fruit juices, cranberry juice and skim milk.
This diet comes from Sacred Heart Memorial Hospital which is used for overweight heart patients in order to lose rapidly usually prior to surgery.
GOOD LUCK AND ENJOY YOURSELF WITH THIS.

I didn't get a chance to read it all since I'm busy at work, but I did skim it over. It looks great! It's also good to see dieters who diet by eating stuff. Hehe. Good luck! biggrin

Thanks! I thought this would be a good diet since you are not deprived of anything your body truely needs throughout the week.
I have found that just when I am on the brink of giving in and "cheating" I find that I'm actually *allowed* to eat that thing I've been craving.
It's been working out just fabulous for me and my family. After the fourth day of the diet I had lost 7 1/2 pounds in all, so I am rather pleased with myself and what I have accomplished so far c: heart
And what is even better is that I can actually feel the difference in my body. I'm starting to feel sooo clean and rejuvinated.
Anyway, I'm glad you could have a look at it! (And I know what you mean, I try and peek at Gaia while I am working too! xd )

Yup, my whole family is on it! ^^
My Dad lost around 10 lbs and my Mom lost about the same as I did.
My little sister lost 5 to 6 lbs, gained it back around the meat days, and then lost it again at the end.
I stopped losing weight around the meat days myself, I believe. Maybe we didn't eat enough greens and drink enough water during that time, so the fat we consumed probably had too much time to be absorbed without our water and veggie chasers. xd
