About Final Fantasy X

Here is a quick summary of the elements of Final Fantasy X that are going to be used:

For a thousand years, a terror known as Sin has been terrorizing the world of Spira. Sin is a giant reaper of devastation, nearly destroying whole towns in its wake.

Temples stand at all the major towns of Spira. These temples teach that Sin is punishment for Spira's past use of machina (machines), thus banning the use of machina. At these temples, mages known as Summoners are trained. These summoners have the ability to call upon spirits known as aeons, given to them by the fayth of the temple.

The fayth are humans who willingly gave up their lives to have their souls sealed in statues. Their existence as a fayth allows them to commune with summoners with whom they have established a mental link. This link allows the summoners to call upon an ethereal form of the fayth that aids in battle, or aeons. These aeons have some resemblence to the fayth that they correspond with.

Summoners go on a pilgrimage across Spira to collect these aeons. Their hope is to call upon the Final Aeon that will aid them in the defeat of Sin. The pilgrimage is a very dangerous journey, and many summoners have died on it. Some summoners even choose to dicontinue their pilgrimage. Because of this there are very few High Summoners, or summoners who have defeated Sin.

High Summoners give their life when they call upon the Final Aeon, but they bring the Calm if they succeed in defeating Sin. A Calm is a period of time where there is no Sin. Sin is a reoccuring monster, so there is no telling if a Calm will be the Eternal Calm or not.

Summoners are serve to send the spirits of the deceased to the Farplane. If the spirits are allowed to stay in the world of the living for too long, they become fiends. Pyreflies often congregate around sendings as well as other places. Pyreflies are mysterious bundles of energy often associated with fiends and the spirits of the dead.

Guardians accompany summoners on their journies, as a way to keep the summoner safe until the very end of their journey, the ruined city of Zanarkand.

Zanarkand is the city is where Sin originated, and the Lady Yunalesca came from. Lady Yunalesca was the first High Summoner.

There is a heirarchy within the temples. The highest on the chain is the Grand Maester, who is like the Pope. Under him are the maesters that represent each race that follows Yevon's teachings. Maesters are responsible for making laws, presiding over Yevon's High Court, and over seeing military, civilian, and spiritual affairs. Under the maesters are priests. Each temple has a high priest and several lower priests. Many priests are former summoners. Next come the summoners, and after them are acolytes, or the equivilent of deacons and nuns.

Other Info.

There are many different races in Spira, but the ones that have the most effect in history are the Yevonites, Guado, Ronso, and Al Behd.

The Guado are a humanoid race with long, extended limbs and digits, pale skin, wild hair that ranges from normal colors to green or blue, and claws. The are the guardians of the entrance to the Farplane, where the living can go to see images of the deceased.

The Ronso are lion-like humanoids. Their fur comes in many colors, and the adult males have a single horn growing from their foreheads, this horn is often the source of pride. Ronsos are very strong in nature, and are loyal and honorable.

The Al Behd are an out-casted race of humans. They oppose the teachings of Yevon and spend their lives studying machina. They are set apart by green eyes with spiral irises, and blond hair.

Blitzball is the main sport of Spira. More can be learned here.

Rules and other information

This RP will take place before the events of Final Fantasy X. It will follow the journey of a summoner and his/her guardians.

Rules

PM profiles to me

Follow guild and Gaia rules

Be courteous

There will be only one summoner, so unless you know FFX REALLY well, don't apply for that position. If no one ends up being qualified, then either I or EpsilonZero will play the summoner.

*More to come...maybe

Job Classes

There are a few types of fighters and they are as follows:

Summoner: Has the ability to call upon aeons, and are usually strong in white magic.

Fighter: Fights with swords and has fairly balanced defense, agility, and attack abilities

Dragon Knight: They usually fight with spears or lances with light or no armor. They can use their lances to thrust them upwards so that they can come crashing down on the enemy. Ronsos usually fall under this category.

Black Mage: They cast offensive spells, mainly elemental. They can also cast spells that cause status ailments, like poison, stun, sleep, ect.

Warrior Monk: They are often protectors of religious officals and temples. They are very dedicated to the Yevon religion. One of the most famous warrior monks was Sir Auron, he was of the samuri fighting class, using a katana and having powerful attacks, but warrior monks often come from many different job classes.

Theif: Usually weak physical attacks, but high agility and evasion. They often, as their name suggests, steal.

Other job classes exist, but these are the main ones in Final Fantasy X.

Gaia Name: EpsilonZero
Character Name: Kazuki Shirakawa
Age: 26
Gender: Male
Place of Origin: Djose
Job Class: Fighter
Position: Guardian
Appearance: Tall and lean, he is a balanced fighter with slightly higher than average agility. He uses a katana and wakizashi to fight, with light weight armor, like shoulder gaurds, arm bracers, and leg plates. He has maroon hair, blue gray eyes, and tan skin. Clothes and other details will be in the picture.

Personality: He is serious, but he has a good sense of humor and he knows when each quality is needed most. He's good at keeping a group together and defusing conflicts. While he acts lethargic and careless towards relationships, he is actually very protective. His flaw however, is in his pride. Because his plans rarely fail, he often believes that his way is always the best.

History: Originally, Kazuki was a member of the Crusaders. However, he was frustrated wth how they spoke big words, but never followed through with their actions. He stays enlisted because it keeps him well fed and in peak physical shape. Because he raised so many eyebrows when he annoinced that he was joining the Crusaders, he is too embarassed to admit resignation. But when he meets Ayame, he is inspired by her passion and insistence that only Summoners can defeat Sin, and any other attempts will be met with disaster. With little left to lose, Kazuki decided to become his/her gaurdian and defeat Sin alongside her.

Gaia Name: Eldawen
Character Name: Ayame
Age: 19
Gender: Female
Place of Origin: Kilika
Job Class: Summoner/White mage
Position: Summoner

Appearance: Ayame is an average in height and slightly on the slender side. Her wheat colored hair and stormy gray eyes compliment her naturally pale skin. Ayame wears no armor and carries only her staff as a weapon, just like all summoners. She wears modest cloths of earthy colors, but retains the look of a summoner.

Personality: Ayame is a passionate person. Passion drives her to do what needs to be done, like defeating Sin. While she can be kind and gentle, she is usually opinionated and hard-headed. She takes everything she does seriously, and has a hard time taking a joke.

History: Ayame was born and raised in Kilika. Her mother had been widowed early in her pregnancy, causing her to move from her original home to Kilika. Ayame's mother spoke highly of her father, saying that he was a great and kind man who had been killed by Sin. Though Ayame's mother was a strong woman, grief for her fallen husband consumed her; she died when Ayame turned ten. Devestated by the loss of her mother, Ayame went to the temple and began training to become a summoner, knowing that Sin was the root of her pain. She is determined to avange her family and prevent anyone from the pain that she has went through. She just recently achieved full summoner status and aquired her first aeon, Ifrit. She has found her first guardian in Kazuki Shirakawa, a former Crusader.

Hey! I'll be helping with this one, and since Elda-san seems to have the logistics covered, I decided that I'll contribute with my art. If you like, I will draw a sketch based on your character design and the general look and feel of Final Fantasy designs. I can't promise anything too polished, but it'll look pretty and it'll probably be colored too.^^

Ja!

((Well, to get things started))

Ayame blinked as the afternoon sun blinded her. She had just emerged from Kilika's temple after packing her things. She would be leaving the island first thing in the morning to begin her pligrimage.

She quickly made her way through the people that had gathered there and walked into the village. She needed to find Kazuki and go over the final details of tomorrow's departure.

"Now, where can he be?" She whispered to herself.

Kilika was really pretty. Didn't matter what time of year it was, it was always the perfect picture of paradise. That was why Kazuki disliked it. He constantly had to remind himself or reality--even in paradise, people still mourned, still died, still haunted their families with pyreflies. It was a wholely depressing ordeal, but it was nessesary to keep him grounded. He had a nasty habit of getting wrapped up in wild fantasies, fantasies like the Crusaders and the Eternal Calm. Sighing, he looked down at the item in his hand. He hoped this wasn't too morbid....

Looking up, he saw Ayame's hut, now looking rather plain, with all of the rugs and other decorations put away indefinitely. Kazuki wasn't sure what would become of the hut; it wasn't like Ayame would need it again. '

Alright! Enough negativity!', he thought, taking a deep, refreshing breath and climbing the short ramp to the doorway.

He entered and found Ayame fussing about the hut, gathering last minute supplies. He couldn't help but smile. She'd been really worked up since her First Summon. Sometimes, she was too serious for her own good. Casting off his thoughts, he got her attention by tapping her on the shoulder gently.

"Aya-san!" He said in a cheeky tone that he hoped would take her mind off things.

((I hope that isn't too controling of me...I tend to take a lot of liberties with my RPs...))

((Nope, you're awesome Epsilon!!))

Ayame felt a tap on her shoulder and whirled around, prepared for some villager offering a tearful "thank you" or "good luck". Instead, she came face to face with Kazuki.

"You startled me, Kazuki." She said, "I was just looking for you earlier so we can go over our route one more time and work the details out."

"You set?" She asked, throwing an item into her bag.
PostPosted: Mon Nov 13, 2006 9:53 pm

Kazuki almost burst into laughter. That'd given him an idea, and he was sure it would work. Arching his back, Kazuki put his hands on his hips in an exaggerative manner, and began to speak, his words dripping with good natured sarcasm.

"Hm....I don't know. Am I? Gosh, I've got so many things to pack, what if I forget my hair gel?!?" he said, the picture of innocence. Dramatically, he put his wrist to his forehead, pouting his lips as his eyes fluttered shut. "Oh how harsh this Guardian lifestyle is!"

Dropping his act, he smiled sincerely and "Well, I'm all ready to go. I just dropped by the merchant's and picked up some items. There just one more task to take care of.." He drifted off, baiting Ayame...waiting for curiosity to arise.....

Ayame cocked a half smiled at Kazuki's antics. If nothing else, she could also count on a funny or sarcastic comment coming from her guardian's mouth. It was a good thing though, it countered her seriousness.

"Is it an important task?" Ayame asked when Kazuki mentioned he had one more task to do.
PostPosted: Mon Nov 13, 2006 10:02 pm

"Hm...WHo knows? In the long run it might be. We'll just have to wait and see. Think fast!" Quickly, he tossed the package in his hand to Ayame.

Ayame just barely caught the package before it hit her face.

"That wasn't very nice." She said with the dignity of a ten year-old.

"What is it?" She aked, opening the package.

"It's a sphere. I recorded it the day I joined the Crusaders. Back then, I still thought that we could make a difference. It was stupid of me, but I disrespected Yevon, convinced that I knew better than them. Pretty arrogant, huh?" Kazuki paused, reflecting.

Crossing his arms, he shifted his weight and smiled at Ayume.

"But the point is, whether I was right or wrong, I believed with all my heart that I was doing the right thing. And, at least for that one day, I felt like a hero. We both know this journey won't be easy and I'm sure there will be just as many mental challenges as physical ones. So don't lose that righteous spirit like I did, okay? Everyone is depending on us, and we owe it to them to reach Zanarkand and defeat Sin. Understand?"

Ayame held the sphere very carefully, like a prized gem and smiled at Kazuki.

"You weren't stupid or arrogant. All we want is for Sin to be defeated, and that's what counts. Thank you very much for this, my friend." She said, bowing as she thanked him.

"I promise I won't lose my way. It would be hard to with your constant nagging."
PostPosted: Mon Nov 13, 2006 10:22 pm

He laughed at that. It was always good when Ayame loosened up like this.

"Believe what you want about me." he said dismissively. "Just remember, everyone screws up sometimes, that's why Summoners and Gaurdians exist. I've promised to keep you safe and strong, and you've promised to keep me under control. Although, I gotta say, I think you're job is tougher!"

Ayame laughed and shook her head. "I was to stubberon to listen to everyone when they warned me about you."

Ayame sombered up a little. "Thank you for agreeing to be my guardian. I do not think I could have found a better one if I tried, and I....I want to keep laughing until the end."

The last part came out hushed. Even though it was accepted, no summoner liked talking about their impending death.
