I am terrified of horror stories. I do not read his books, unless you can recommend some that are not so scary...

I love Stephen King! I think he writes well, his stories keep me wanting to read, even if I have other stuff I need to get done...
The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon and The Tommyknockers are more suspenseful, if anything. They don't have too much horror, if you wanted to try them.

Nozomi Higarashi I am terrified of horror stories. I do not read his books, unless you can recommend some that are not so scary... Well I don't find The Black Tower-saga(or whatever) so scary, although it has everything Stephen likes writing about, but not that much horror which would make anyones heart stop...I think...

He's a good writer. But for some reason, I prefer Koontz.

His skill is proven, but I belive he's running short on idea's. His last 3 books have been terrible drab like a drunk english professors rantings.
He needs to quit for a little bit and get his s**t together and come back with a really good book. Like his old style, Kujo, or The Stand.
Wish him the best to get out of this stump.

To me he seems to run hot and cold.
In things like Bag of Bones, and The Stand, he has great characterization but pulls in these really unconvincing supernatural elements that are almost comically juvenile.
But Needful Things is a real masterpiece, mostly because it keeps its focus on the characters and their psychology and interaction. That to me is King's greatest strength. He has a little sympathy for weak or hurtful people, and that gives them depth.
In his world, none of us are monsters; we are victims of forces bryond ourselves.

I'm currently reading all the Dark Towers.... could there be a better written charactor than Roland?
I haven't found one.
At first one HATES him, and then doesn't understand him... and now... by book 6... I love him so much I feel his every ache...!

I love Stephen King. I really do. He and Dean Koontz are my favorites, but sometimes they're writing just to make a deadline and it's ruined several storylines. . .
