Here's one: The Pyrates by George MacDonald Frasier. It pokes fun at just about every pirate-movie stereotype in the universe, and it is absolutely hilarious.

Apparently there's a book called Vampirates. I'm apparently also getting it for christmas, and I've heard it's wonderful but has a stupid ending. Whatever, I'm gunna read it and love it forever.

[Leo] the Pirate Here's one: The Pyrates by George MacDonald Frasier. It pokes fun at just about every pirate-movie stereotype in the universe, and it is absolutely hilarious. I might try that one 3nodding @Antag0ni5tic - I picked that up and had a look at it but it was too "young" for me, if I'm thinking of the same book you are. it's a teenage book right? I'm not really a fan of teenage books sweatdrop @Agless Bill Turner - yeah I've heard of that. I love vampires and I love pirate but the the books a kids book, cause I read about it on Amazon and I thought "a kids book combining vampires and pirates is sure to suck" but if you read it let me know what it's like.

The Bloody Jack adventure series by L.A. Meyer is excellent and quite pirate-y, though some is just on the seas and not necessarily in the company of pirates.
The books are about the misadventures of Mary "Jacky" Faber, an orphan who dresses as a boy and gets a job as a cabin boy on a ship in the British Navy...things go from there and just get better and better.
They're really great books with a clever main character Jack Sparrow would be proud of. wink

Let's see, I have Under the Black Flag, which is about the history of real pirates and is pretty darn good, The Pirate Queen, which is based on the life of Grace O'Malley and is EXCELLENT, and a bunch of others at home that I can't remember. crying

I have both "Under the Black Flag" and "Pirateology". I really want "The Pirate Queen" though. Grace O'Malley kicked arse.
Anyone know of any good books on Anne Bonny and Mary Read?
