((Ahhh...An indepth Anime forum...I'm home! <3))
Ahem. While being quite a rare show, along with it's unique artwork, FLCL definatly stands out as the best amung the best. Though many may not understand the many Japanese-related jokes or fast-pasted plot through this six episode Anime, i for one, do.
The robots, the aliens, the baseball, the electric guitars! And must we not forget the Vespa. I believe that this anime is a brilliant piece of work that seems to stand out as a whole other genre of anime all on it's own. The humor and material is quite mature, despite it being a plot about aliens and robots. Many people may disagree with the Anime for being fast paced and too confusing, but i think it adds to the characteristics of the show.
It's hard to choose a favorite character. I would choose Mamimi because i feel a likeness to her, but Haruko is also quite the character. She's tomboy-ish and tough, and seems to have a soft side, although it's hard to tell through the way she manipulates Naota and those around her. In the end, her energy and absolute insanity is what drives me to favour her.
Discuss: --The anime's art style. --Favorite characters, and why? --The plotline, are you confused? --What you like/dislike about the show? --How much you wish it was more than 6 episodes long! 3

Furi Kuri equals the best Anime Experience of all time. The voice acting was perfect. The art was spectacular. The plot was increadably interesting. The manga was fun to read. Best of all, they had one of the best bands playing all the songs on it. I love The Pillows, and every single song on FLCL. The music corelated perfectly with the moods of each scene.
My favorite character would have to be Takkun (sp?) In the end, when he gets empowered with both freakin guitars. He was blockin the hits from Haruko like it was nothing special. Yeah, i got chills at that part.
About the six episodes long thing... I must say that a part of me left with Haruko in the end. What a great six episodes though! I tipically don't watch Anime much at all anymore, but dayum. Back in, what 03? When this first came out on Cartoon Network, i fell in love after the first episode.

Hmm...How is the manga? I heard it gives you more details about the plot and it's way better than the show. I live in a small town so it's hard to get some decent anime. Plus i live in Canada, so i don't get any of these Adult Swim or Cartoon Network channels. crying Hell, we just started airing decent animes on YTV as of late, and i still don't trust the dubs. :/
I got my Furi Kuri through ..."other" sources..*Cough* And have all the episodes on disc. It takes me about a whole day to watch them...But man is it ever worth it!
Draxxus: The character you mentioned is named Naota, but Mamimi calls him Ta-kun. It's a nickname from his full name, and also it gives resemblance to his older brother, which is why Mamimi calls him that, and why Naota yells at her so much for it.
As for the Pillows....They rock! Next time I go to a convention i'm totally buying the album...That is, if i can find it. sad The only convention nearby is Anime North, and i don't think they sell a lot of Furi Kuri merchandise.
Aiko: Seriously? $30 bucks? Isn't that about...$360 all together? Augh! That means it would be even more expensive in Canada! crying (Unless you live in Canada, and then that would be awsome.) Arg, i'm sad now.

The manga was great. But i still liked the Anime better. The manga too was drawn really creative. I know of his name. They refer to him mostly by Naota in the Manga, and Ta-kun in the Anime. Hell yeah. The Pillows are my shiznite. My girlfriend (Aiko Amaya) got me the "Another Morning - Another Pillows" album, as well as the FLCL OST. As for merchandise, i finally found a FLCL T-shirt at our local mall. heart

Aiko Amaya Nah, I live about as far away as you can from Canada, in the US at least. I live in big old Texas. :
But yeah, I'd just watched the episodes on Youtube. It's 100% cheaper. heart Wouldn't you like to support the Anime, and buy their merchandise? sweatdrop

Luuuuckkkyyy. heart And the show isn't about perversion, i think she really only attacked him once or twice. Although, Haruko attacked him a lot too, but that was really only to either bug/manipulate him into doing something for her... Teehee, best part was the boxing glove on the spring. rofl

Oh come on. No one put Canti as their favorite character? He's probably one of the most emotive characters in this show, and he doesn't have a face or any speech!
FLCL is probably where I first experienced the glory of synched action and music. God, it works out so perfectly.

He ends up being pretty symbolic in the show too, especially to Mamimi. Even if she seems mentally unstable, she has a lot of normality in the way she looks up to certain figures in the show. I think Canti was the only friend and only role model she ever had.

I don't really have the time to go in-depth about this right now, but I'll say this.
When I crack the dimensional barrier, I'm going to Mabase.
