Have you ever noticed Muse's songs vocabulary? Like honestly, some of the words just STICK with you and whenever you hear them you think of that song...
Like corrupt: take a bow
Asphyxiated: TiRO
But they use words and I'm always like hmm...WHAT DOES THAT MEAN.
I think I have that thing...I'll find the word for it, its like obsessive compulsive disorder by facination of words, lol.
Like Stockholm Syndrome means when a person like a hostage or someone whos kidnapped like falls in love or feels loyal to the person who took them : O Did you know that? I BET YOU DIDN'T! Haha....

Here's the Muse dictionary: Feel free to add:
Asphyxiated:Asphyxia is a condition of severely deficient supply of oxygen to the body. In the absence of remedial action it will very rapidly lead to unconsciousness and death. Asphyxia is the same as suffocation. Anoxia means the pathological state in which tissues do not get (enough of) oxygen.
Stockholm Syndrome:The Stockholm syndrome is a psychological state in which the victims of a kidnapping, or persons detained against their free will – prisoners – develop a relationship with their captor(s). This solidarity can sometimes become a real complicity, with prisoners actually helping the captors to achieve their goals or to escape police.
Corrupt: In broad terms, political corruption is the misuse of public office for private gain. All forms of government are susceptible in practice to political corruption. Degrees of corruption vary greatly, from minor uses of influence and patronage to do and return favours, to institutionalised bribery and beyond. The end-point of political corruption is kleptocracy, literally rule by thieves, where even the external pretence of honesty is abandoned.
Superficial: Superficial is a general term meaning "regarding the surface", often metaphorically. Both in the literal as in the metaphorical sense the term has often a negative connotation based on the idea that deeper parts are also important to consider.
Revelations: In monotheistic religions, revelation is the process in which God makes himself, his will, and/or other information known to mankind. - ever notice how Matthew often sings about god/god related things yet he admits to be Atheist?
Atheist: One who has formed an active belief that there are no gods.
Supermassive Black Hole: A supermassive black hole is a black hole with a mass in the range of millions or billions solar masses.
Black Hole: An object whose gravitational pull inside a certain radius is so strong that nothing, not even light can escape it. A black hole forms when the amount of matter in the core of a star undergoing a supernova is great enough to cause a runaway gravitational collapse.
Apocalypse: Actually meaning "unveiling" or "revelation," this word is frequently used to describe the end of the world as we know it. Though many apocalyptic scenarios depict a terrifying, destructive end, some are rather gentle, having to do with the enlightenment of the human race or the dawning of a New Age. This term is also used to refer to the Book of Revelation. -GASP from absolution...linking to BLACK HOLES AND REVELATIONS!!!
Absolution: Absolution in a liturgical church refers to the pronouncement of God's forgiveness of sins. - once again, reffering to god or A god.
Conscience: Conscience is generally thought of as a moral faculty, sense, or feeling that impels individuals to believe that particular activities are morally right or wrong.
Hysteria: a psychological disturbance, arising from trauma, that manifests itself in physical impairment, such as paralysis, blindness, deafness, or anesthesia.
Cydonia: Cydonia is an albedo feature (region) on Mars. It lies in the planet's northern hemisphere in a transitional zone between the heavily-cratered regions to the south and relatively smooth plains to the North. Cydonia itself is covered in numerous mesas and may have been a coastal zone if planetologists are correct in believing that the northern plains were once ocean beds.
Exo-Politics: Exopolitics is the politics related to what should happen if intelligent extraterrestrial life is found and we are able to communicate with it. The people of the world and their governments will need to determine how to manage those interactions. The development of policy guidelines for dealing with extraterrestrial beings and territory has been considered by authors such as Michael Salla and Alfred Webre.
Zeta: In UFOlogy a Zeta is alien entity associated with different spiritual density. - I think everyone has noticed Muse's facination with space and anything that could possibly out there, aliens and such= inteligence (speaking of inteligence, who can't spell?? MEE!!!!)
Delusion: A false idea typically originating from a misinterpretation but firmly believed and strongly maintained in spite of contradictory proof or evidence.
Hoodoo: There are many deffinitions of hoodoo, so first we must find out which Muse is reffering to.
Hullabaloo: agitation: disturbance usually in protest. - what a fun word to say! I dare you to say it 5 times really fast...its quite entertainging XD
Compromise: A compromise is an agreement (or proposed agreement) to accept a situation in which the parties get variations from what they originally sought, to achieve a compatible outcome. Is also something that any involved parties have to concede in something for the common better good to be achieved in an appeasing manner.
Pillage: The act of seizing by force the goods from a merchant ship in time of war. The pillaged goods are referred to as plunder, loot, booty or spoils.
Prudence: The conventional meaning of prudence is to exercise sound judgement in practical affairs. It is considered to be a virtue and is often associated with wisdom.
Pretentious: making claim to or creating an appearance of (often undeserved) importance or distinction; "a pretentious country house"; "a pretentious fraud"; "a pretentious scholarly edition"
Demonocracy: Demonocracy, is a word that Matthew Bellamy made up just playing with the word Democracy. Worked out pretty good, didn't it? It means a Demonic Democracy.
False Pretences: This is when an individual intentionally makes lies to fraudulently receive money or goods.

Thats all for now, please feel free to add more.

Bwaha, I knew the stockholm syndrome thing! biggrin I think I saw a movie on it somewhen. Hm. Although I have to admit I didn't know it for about a year after I first heard the song, I just thought that it took place in stockholm or something? XD
Wooyay.

"Canadian Bacon" (which I don't know why I keep hearing) always reminds me of the song Sober. smile I'm gonna guess that it's the whole "Royal Canadian Blended", which I used to think sounded a tad bit like bacon instead of blended. sweatdrop

xd I love his use of words...and Matt always manages to baffle me on each album with at least one word that I HAVE to; out of my love of words, find out the meaning of. Aspyxiated and Superficial are probably the main ones that grabbed me. whee And what shocks me is that I don't come in contact with them; when they're such common words...then after I hear them sung they're everywhere. That and I start using them when I'm writing. Matt's vocals do a lot of justice for my english coursework /Matt novels cool

Surprisingly, listening to Muse for me has imrpoved my vocabullary, because really, it is so limited. So at this moment as I'm writting to Matt, I'm trying to use words that are of a bigger vocabulary. So far I've used the word Contemplating, and...damn not any other good ones, SO IF ANY OF YOU CAN THINK OF SOME GOOD WORDS I'D BE VERY GLAD TO HEAR THEM.

rofl I know millions of long words...but they just come out randomly when I'm writing; unfortunately. Oh yeah; and Matt's helped my vocabulary outside of the band too. He made me look up the word 'pretentious' at one point, since I'd never heard of it...he kept saying it and it was baffling me so I looked it up xd For some reason, everything he says; I remember it easier

I've already had the influence of a very clever sounding friend of mine who appears to have made my sentences longer and smarter and flowy-sounding. Although I've no doubt that the music I listen to all the time has helped a bit too, especially Matt and his ever-so-clever vocabulary. biggrin

Yep. Really scares me when people use a lot of them in one sentence. rofl I had a music sub once who said something like, "this place is endlessly a black hole' or something. Don't really remember, but ha I paid attention for sure.

Haha yeah; I was curious so I asked last night. He said it's a play on democracy. sweatdrop We should shove it in the dictionary anyway XD I must have come off as seeming so stupid--it's just that when I googled it; it didn't correct me; so I thought it was an actual word; but I couldnt find out what it meant razz
