Psalm 116:1-2 I love the Lord. He heard my voice; he heard my cry for mercy.
I think of it as a way to get a stronger and more personal relationship with God. Not everyone can do it, so I would find it as one the the biggest gifts anyone can have.
Because he turned his ear to me, I will call on him as long as I live.

I'm not quite sure I understand what you mean by "baptism of the Holy Spirit" but speaking in tongues is a gift that the Spirit grants to certain people, the same way He grants the gift of prophecy or of faith or of healing or of leadership to other people. Everyone has a gift that the Spirit has given them, and they are all for His glory.

I think that being Baptized in the Holy Spirit is vital and important... How else are we going to be able to walk in this world and stand if we do not have God Living and Active with in us? The Holy Spirit is my Senior Pastor He is the one who Guides me and uncovers the spiritual dynamics in my life, He speaks to me as I pray for other as well as myself.... Speaking in Tounge is awesome... I honestly wish each person would recieve this Gift from God... It is having an intamate prayer langauge between God and yourself... its beautiful... when you don't know what to pray and your spirit is crying out, speak in the tounge that God has given you.... I think you need to read Acts to see what the early Church did through the Power of the Holy Spirit (who by the way is the same Spirit that is here with in us today, makes you wonder why we aren't looking more like the early church? wink ) Read 1 Corintians 12 which is a letter the Apostle Paul writes to the Corintians on spiritual gifts... Just remember the gifts are not just for ourselves but to be used for unbelievers, they are to help us with our Purpose but they are not the Purpose God gave us.... <3 Hope that Helped! XD
o.o hmmm I might have to write up a teaching on the Baptism of the Holy Spirit... biggrin yay I knew this was going to come up, it seems like lately its all I am talking about and I am realising how important it is to have the Baptism of the Holy Spirit.... <3

Thanx everyone... I recently did receive the Baptism and can speak in tongues... I love it and am extremally happy... the only thing is the factt thatt i received it in my bf's church where they actually believe in thatt but i go to a baptist church (not to seperate anyone) and well... most baptist believe thatt speaking in tongues is 'from the world' so at my church if im lead to speak in tongues i cant because people will pretty much thinkk that im possessed or somethingg like thatt... I just dont like thatt i cant use my Gift att anytime because many people arent ready for it... soo anyways thats whyy i asked the question... just kindaa tiredd of hearing thatt it's ridiculous and such if you know whatt i mean...

Don't fight what the Holy Spirit is compelling you to do. Go where He leads, say what He dictates, do what He commands. If He says speak in tongues, speak in tongues. If your church can't accept that, then I think it's time you find a new church. 3nodding

Who cares what people think of your gift? God gave it to you, and you should use it at anytime that you can. And if God is proud of you, and bestowed it upon you and wishes that you speak in tongue, speak in tongue. What is more important to you? To please your Father, or please people around you? I myself prefer pleasing my Father God.

Well, then, it sounds like church is not very Biblical, since gossip goes right along with bearing false witness. If people want to think your family is bad because God granted you a wonderful gift, then that is seriously their loss and their issue that should and will be taken up with God.
Is it that you can't go to your boyfriend's church or you just won't at the moment because it'll cause trouble? If you can, I would say do it, especially if God is pulling you in that direction. 3nodding

"to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues." I know it has been said above about the 1 Corinthians 12, but nothing wrong with saying it agian. And you know, you don't have to go to "their" church. They can't force you to go to church or not, it is your choice. Likewise is the choice of which church to go to.

My family doesnt have a problem with what church I go to but my bf's church is like an hour away so my mom doesnt like it... i have to get a ride with my bf's family everytime so if theyy arent goingg i cant... and my mom's all worried aboutt if it doesnt workk out between me and him thatt i wont have a strong connection with a church... but what she doesnt know is thatt both him and i were told by Holy Ghost that we were meant to be together so I'm not worried about thatt... she just doesnt want me driving thatt far, yett im planning on going to a college down there thatt doesnt have rez so id have to drive anyways if i stayy at home so it wouldd be good practice lol! Oh well... I'll figure it outt... I dont wantt to leave my church completely just because there's a lot of younger kids thatt look up to me there so i need to be there for them... I'm goingg to go to my bf's church as much as possible...
Just to clear it up it's more my youth group thats badd with gossip... but ive been goingg to thatt church since i was born soo my life doesnt really gett kept a secret cuz EVERYBODY knows who I am... and you know how you can tll one person somethingg and by the time everyone has heard it it's been changed about 10 times just because half the people dont know how to tell a story lol My church is goingg through a lot of changes rightt now and growing in size and all thatt so yeahh... i think ive just learned everything thatt i can from there now...

Just be sure you aren't misinterpreting what the Spirit is telling you about you and your boyfriend staying together. It could just be that He is giving you His blessing for the time being because it is part of His plan; there are no guarantees that you and he will be together. But I would definitely continue to pray on it to be sure. 3nodding

Lethkhar Another one bites the dust... Now, now. We accept that you are an ardent atheist and you hold a rather low view of christianity, but we do ask you to be polite.
