Atlantis: The Twelve Olympians

We all know the story of the island that sunk into the sea, but no one really knows why. All stories seem to leave out the actual people involved, and tell about the general picture. Not anymore!

This is the story of the destruction of Atlantis as brought about by the Twelve Olympians, using humans as a method of chaneling their message. Each of these people does not know of their soon purpose, but is about to discover it through messages from the Gods. This will be their story.

In this particular version of Atlantis, the civilization draws on beliefs of the Ancient Greeks, the Minoans, the Aztecs, Mayas and Incas, and the Egyptians. Athens is currently rallying troups for an epic battle which will end in a series of natural disasters that destroy Atlantis and the Athenians. There will be some survivers, but they will be very few.

The conception of Atlantis. When the Gods created humans, the Earth was divided amongst the Olympians. Originally, Poseidon and Athena competed for Athens, by showing gifts. Athena won this competition, and Poseidon then chose the island of Atlantis. On Atlantis, he met the beautiful Cleito, and with her begot five pairs of twins, who became the ten kings of Atlantis.

The destruction of Atlantis. Guidelines. There will be twelve people who are used as pawns by the Twelve Olympians. At first they will be normal. When the Gods have their first word with them, they will be the first warning. If they are not listened after the first three warnings, these people will become empowered by the Gods with the capability to destroy Atlantis. Each God will be allowed to do his share, but Poseidon, the original patron God of Atlantis, will have the greatest say in the matter. He will also be the ultimate destroyer of Atlantis, as the God of Earthquakes and the Sea, and will cause a series of earthquakes and floods which will eventually bury Atlantis deep beneath the sea, and most of its people along with it.

HINT: You are allowed to be from any place you wish, not just Atlantis! Atlantis is a diverse island with people from many different civilizations. Just make sure that, if they are not in one of the classes, they have some sort of diplomatic immunity. Otherwise, they will be suspect slaves! Eep!

Farmers - Green
They have just as few rights as slaves, and are often treated the same. They have chin length hair, and own themselves, but this is the only difference between the two. They live outside of the rings, and have green tattoos of their name on their ankle.
Artisans - Brown
Artisans have hardly any rights, and are not viewed with much pleasure. They have amazing talents though, which they use to sell their goods to Merchants. They are not allowed to wear jewelry or any make-up. They do have one earring, however, to pay for admittance into heaven. Their hair is only allowed to go as far as the shoulder blades, by law. They live on the larger outer ring. They bear the tattoo of their name, in dark brown, on the side of their neck, towards the back.
Merchants - Red
Merchants have a great deal of rights, and have the ability to be very successful and wealthy. The more wealthy merchants can marry into nobility. They are allowed to wear jewelry, but only made of silver or orichalc, and are not allowed to wear make-up. Their hair is allowed to go only as far as their waist. They live on the larger outer ring. They live on the They bear the tattoo of their name on their collarbone in a red.
Lower Nobles - Silver
Lower nobles have almost all of the privileges of upper nobles, aside from the ability to marry into royalty. They are allowed to wear both make-up and jewelry. Their hair is only allowed to be as long as halfway down their thighs. They live on the small inner ring. They bear their name tattoo on the side of their neck towards the back, in silver.
Upper Nobles - Bronze
Upper Nobles have great amounts of political strength and power. In times of war, they act as generals over the populace. They are allowed to and do wear jewelry and make-up, and tend to dress in very ostentatious, colorful clothing. Their hair is allowed to be quite long, but by law cannot touch the ground when they are standing. They live on the innermost ring, and bear their bronze name tattoos in the same place that lower nobles do.
Priests - White
Priests may be male or female. They are very greatly respected in society, and are often used by royals as soothsayers. They are not allowed to speak, except for once every two years, at a gathering of only priests. At other times, they are expected only to the Gods. However, they may speak if they are channeling a God. They live on the inner island of the city where the Temples to the Gods are, and are not allowed to wear any make-up. They dress in hooded white robes with the colors of their God on the trim. Their hair may be to any length they please, because it is shrowded in a hood. However, they must not allow it to ever show in public. They are the only members of soceity not allowed to reveal their names, even through the use of a tattoo. However, so they are not considered as outsiders, or as would be slaves, they are allowed a pure white mark on the back of each palm.
Royals - Gold
Royals have ultimate power over all of Atlantis. The only people stronger than them are the Kings. They dress in extravagant colors and jewels. However, unlike upper nobles, men have shaven heads and wear headresses. They are the most likely candidates for marriage into Kinghood, because they are also descendents of the founders of Atlantis. Their hair is usually so long that it touches the ground, or even drags along it, if not tied up. Their names are portrayed through tattoos on their chest in gold. On women, they are just below the belly button, because it is customary for female royals to go topless.
Kings - Gold and Blue
Kings hold supreme power over everyone on Atlantis. There are ten kings, and the most powerful rules the entire island from the center island of the capital. He dresses in the most elaborate clothing available, and bears his name on his chest. He also has a shaven head and headress. Queens as well. Queens are considered a bridge between Royalty and the King. They have most of the say in social matters, where the King has economic, political and military prowess.

This leads her to be a bit unruly sometimes, especially for a royal princess. Her parents wish for her to marry the King of the Inner Island, but she would rather just paint.
History: Her parents are very harsh, but her brother, Kletos, is a kind man, if not a bit misunderstanding about her situation. All of her life she has yearned to be free from her bonds of blood, and desires most to be a painter or an artist. Despite a great amount of tact and ability in being Royal, she finds it incredibly dull, and would give it up if she were able. She is currently attempting to find some escape from her hellish prison.
Other: She is being used by Persephone in the destruction of Atlantis. Also, she is a talented painter and seamstress. She prefers to paint in her garden, by moonlight.
