I'm sorry to say I haven't been getting on Gaia that often lately (Though I still come on every morning, and I try to keep my avatar arena entries going)...
My roommate introduced me to an online game... I put this here in "Outside the Fantasy" (I liked "Back to Reality" better) because it'd be cool if some of you joined me (So long as you don't abandon what you are obliged to here, such as the guild.)...
I won't really put any details except that you can do pretty much ANYTHING you want... Especially if you know how to script/animate/etc.
Also, because of the ANYTHING part, they recommend the players to be of mature age... Not to say there is mature content everywhere, but I'd be lying if I said there wasn't any.

If you think I shouldn't even have said anything please let me know.

What game is this? Is it free? What sort of scripting?

It is an MMO called "2nd Life", it's free to play, but it is recommended to leave some form of payment info (RMT is legal, so doing so will make it easier, plus some players are suspicious of people without payment info because of events that occured when the admins made it possible to get by the payment info screen... But just because you have payment info doesn't mean you pay anything though. Just for the record, I have no payment info.)

I don't know anything about scripting to tell you what sort... The sort that makes you do stuff? sweatdrop

I think I like their naming system rather well... You type a first name, and they provide a list of last names to pick. It allows for multiple "Fred's" and such...

Another "anything" you can do is customize your avatar! I'm not talking simply clothes or anything like on Gaia. You can change clothes, body shape/size... If I could figure out the snapshot feature I'd take pictures to shaow you. You know how people on Gaia can get the many ears and tails right? How's becoming the whole animal sound? razz Many people sell avatar sets of anthropomorphs that they made (and a few quadrupeds, but I've yet to see a quad-walking animation that works perfectly). If you can make things, it will get you money with the right stuff.
I'm a blue dragon! mrgreen Also I put a script into my head that allows translation of English into Al Bhed xd

I've heard of that game. Isn't it sort of like the Sims in a way?

I've never played sims, so I wouldn't know...
All I know is it is freakin awesome...
Though yesterday was a rather... Stressful day... I learned of these big dragon avatars that are pricey as hell, but not only that, but are only available on Equinoxes and Solstices at 12 AM and PM for only a few minutes due to the limited quantity... And they're fully customizable!
The events are huge and lag gets terrible, so much so, the participants are told to wear little to nothing to avoid lag... I was lagging there with only about 5 people there... First come first serve sucks on these things crying
fortunately, I have over a month to prepare for this, but the emotions I had upon learning of these was just AWFUL... I had an emotional crash just from thinking about the improbability of me getting one...

Oh well... I heard scripting is "LSL"... I don't know what that means though...

I've heard of 2nd. Life , I checked it out. I baulked at the request for CC info , I did'nt really like that stare It does look interesting. I believe you can actually sell real things for real money? They use Linden dollars , is'nt that it? and they can be exchanged for real money in some circumstances.......I think. It is'nt just a game , it's like having your own website within a community with some fantasy aspects.

That's pretty accurate...
What do you mean by "CC info"?
Yes, RMT (Real Money Trade)... I'm not sure as to buying items for real cash, but you can buy the currency (Linden (L$)) for real cash... If you happen to have lots of money (Say $5000, plus $300 a month for maintenance) you can buy an island (Basically it's buying a server...)
I wanna upload an image, but I don't think it will let me... If it shows up, it will be an image of my character in the AFK stance... I was hoping for him to lower his arms in such a way, but after a while of waiting (I know he'd do it, I've seen it) I got tired of waiting... Betcha can't guess who I'm posing as razz

EDIT: I'ma try to make this a URL... It doesn't seem to wanna work as an IMG

No , cant see it confused CC is credit card. I always like to investigate things well before doing that ninja although I do have an internet only account I use a credit card from and I just keep a small ammount of money in it. That way if anything goes nasty I have'nt much to lose.

The island being a server makes sense. I think there are real companies there , doing real business , so being a member is like a network within the net , as it were. I might go look at it again. Maybe I'll open an art gallery some day lol

That'd be pretty sweet!
Yeah... It doesn't require CC info, but like I said before, it doesn't hurt to have it on there from what I have heard... And Like I said, I don't have that info either...

I'll try to fix the image thingie...

Ooookay , I tried it out. It's very complicated sweatdrop I suppose one would get used to it though , like anything else. My biggest problem is that my graphics card is'nt handling it too well , so it froze a few times. I uninstalled it again. Maybe I'll give it another try if I upgrade.

Mmm. Not really my kind of thing yet. I'd rather start out with something simpler and easier to manage. Like gaia. Maybe someday I'll join. talk2hand

Alright... It was worth a shot to throw this out there...
Maybe someday... razz

As long as we're still talking bout SL (Second Life)... The parties on the Isle of Wyrms... Damn those are fun biggrin ... I came into the party with L$7 in my pocket, and by the end of it, I had enough to buy my wyrmling av (a L$2200 value!)
Now to get L$3500 by Dec 22, so I'll have a chance at the adult wyrms!
Anyway, the party was to celebrate the hatching of one of the isle's Wyrms (Put simply, a birthday party... Though the word "Hatchday" had been used quite a bit.)

I can easily see how fun it could be. You need a good whizzy computer though.

Hehe... I think my compy is one of the worst ones to be playing it on... All it has is default graphics card, and it wasn't made for gaming... It was made so we could have a compy. I think mine would be the compy with the least "Whiz" around here.
