A solar powered Piano.
A piano to generate electricity>???
You could create electricity while playing the piano! Then you'd be having a great deal of fun composing and saving on your energy bill.
I use my computer too much...SAVE THE PLANET!

Haha, yess a good idea as well as a fairly original one too! Personally I think we should put the convicts in giant hampster wheels and use them to generate electricity....

We were doing about renewable energy sources in science and we had to give little presentations. This one guys was just so funny... True genious indeedXD It was something along the lines of "2.1 million people in American jails. Renewable power needed. What do we do? Giant hampster wheels". So so funny..
And yes, it used to be a punishment in jails, to walk on the wheels, though it didn't create electricity. Remember Oscar Wilde and his wheel? He was put in jail because he was gay, so they made him go on the wheel as punishment... Well that's what my mother told me...
(and thank you, it's a mink. I have a thing about fur and fur hats in particular!)

You could convert a piano to have a cycle attachment underneath - then your pedalling would be producing electricity while you played. xd

I think this is a very good idea, even playing the warm-up scales won't be put to waste... come to think of it, playing the piano uses up convertible physical energy that can be really useful...

Aye. Thats the best use of talent I have heard of yet, but although it would be cool to do something like that you will never replace my traditional acoustic piano! MUAHAHAHA

rofl, it's a nice thought, but....
I almost always play at night - which is kinda counterproductive, really... sweatdrop
And anyway, the amount of energy that goes into making a Solar Pannel is rediculous...

OMG solar powered keyboard would be amazing, no need to worry about tripping over cables during a concert and it would save me money on electricity bills ...... i'm gonna look into this and demand one in the future 3nodding

Power as you push the keys down?
Feasible on a small scale probably... Plans do exist in UK to transfer energy of people walking on sidewalks into energy, or so I have heard.
Unless you are playing for an extremely long period of time and just wish to charge your cell phone, You probably wouldn't be able to do anything worth noting.
Or it could feasibly power your entire keyboard, but every key uses approx. 10 lbs of pressure.
