I'm sure everyone will have found out with the current announcement.. But YES! The Battle System is in development and apparently there is a working demo of it! Sadly, it's not available to us Gaians yet, but there is one!
Many things are still in development, but you can tell from the screenshot they provide that the Ring System is no doubt in there. It also seems our maximum HP will be 100 at base, possibly enhanceable... Akward. Also, it seems our beginning enemies are these white puff balls with big blue eyes. Cute little buggers, but they are monsters! There is also a kind of land creature shown; a cross between a whale and an OMG hat.
Who else is excited? C'mon, I know you all are!
Quick reference to the screenshot: Battle System Screenshot!

I knew this would be here the second I saw the announcement. Oh man, oh man! <3 I'm so excited! It also looks like one can fight with even a starter outfit so clothes might not be particularly relevant.

Yup yup, news travels fast in the world of Gaia.
It was stated that the clothes an Avatar has on does NOT affect battle parimeters and stats whatsoever. It's all about the Rings we obtain. :3 Personally, that's way better than having clothes determine stats.. The elite-ists who have the rare items in Gaia would have a sizable boost in their powers from the start, it wouldn't be fair to others starting out. T oT

Though it will make you look bad being beat down by a kid with peasant clothes, no matter how many rings he/she has.

I'd love to see the return of oldschool elites beating down n00bs. Would remind of the old days when gaia was starting out.
Long Live the Flamers.

Eh, whatever happens, there is no doubt going to be some kind of elite group in the Battle System. It's a fact; there will always be some kind of advantage that can be obtained by some that cannot be easily gotten by others. No doubt high class Rings will be sold for top Gold, and those better rings are what will start Elitism.
Just gimme the Flame Resistance Ring and we're all good, 'kay?. 0 3o

The rich will always get the best. However, if there is not particularly expensivve items then they wn't get any advantage to begin with.
I really hope I'm chosen to help in the playable demo. That is, if they bring it out like they did towns.
