I figured, we're expanding beyond Initial D to include other racing games. Why not have a Wangan Midnight thread as well? Here's your thread to discuss both versions of the game.

So, I started me a blue Supra in MT2. Handles nicely...just gotta get used to the game. I've gone through all the N-Class racers and one of the C-Class racers. The physics of it are just...way different. It's a very big challenge for someone who's used to Initial D.

Y'know, if I had me a wheel and Tokyo Xtreme Racer Zero, I'd probably be able to get some practice for MT2, seeing as the physics are almost, if not completely, identical. C1, at least.

Hakone is a really nice course. It's very technical and provides a good challenge, at least.

Okay man wow... TXR has a VERY different physics system and uh yeah... You CAN'T play TXR with a wheel, it just doesn't work.

As for me, I have a Midnight Blue Fairlady 300ZX Twin Turbo (Z32), and I'm planning on starting a Black Skyline GTR (R32) like in the first Wangan Midnight MT.

My favorite part of the game has to be either the music or the full 6 speed shifter.

That and there just seems to be a certain essence of racing wangan was able to capture that Initial D doesn't even touch.

I kinda hate it cause the shifter is on the right side when your racing in Japan. The peddles are to small. Im used to the Initial D Peddles. And theres always a face that has to pop up when you race the comp. but when you play Initial D it doesnt have that.

Why did they have to put the Face on the screen, the Shifter on the right side, and make the peddles small?

Its ok just thought that since its a Japanese racing game they could've made like your driving a Japanese car you know.

I will admit the pedals suck, but as for the shifter they were just being nice to us americans. Sit in the passenger side of your freinds car and shift from there. See, up and down is no problem, but working it through five gears gets hard when its on the wrong side.

I'd know.

awwww I like the people. It's nice to have the other player b***h and complain while you beat them. At least then you kinda feel like you're racign a person. Not a predetermined slot line with a car moving along it at a set speed (Initial D)

Meh. I've heard and experienced differently. I do know that there are differences in the system, but in terms of general concept, it's almost the same. Of course, if I wanted to learn Hakone, I'd have to go to the arcade to do it, but that's just a different point.

Regardless, I believe that I'm going to be taking a break from ID and MT2 for a while. I need to save up some for AX this year.

Well if you wanna learn the layout of the highway, you know order of corners and s**t, yeah TXR is perfect for that. They're both based on the same map. The tokyo metropolitan highway to be exact.

I started playing the game a couple of days ago. I have to say that i really hate the super small peddles that they have. For someone who is used to the Initial D peddles, it is kinda hard to get used to. I also dont really like the traffic in the game. I know its more realistic and all but i still cant help but hit at least one damn Namco truck on every race. I started with a black FD and it seems to be working really well for me. I suppose i will just have to play it more to get used to it.

I've played the 1st one, but not the 2nd. I kinda wanted to but then again when I saw the that it was kinda the same as the first (the pedals and shifter and wheel), I was like nah.

I like the game, and I ain't complaining about the shifter or the pedals, you know. It doesn't make any big difference to me really. I have a Skyline GT-R R34 in the 1st version and a Toyota Hiace in the 2nd, a.k.a. the namco minivan xd

On the car select screen...

Neutral -> 3->2->2->3->2->2->3->2->2->3->2->2->

This turns the MR-2 into the Hiace.
