I am afraid of the dark too. It isn't childish. It's a very common fear. Don't beat yourself up over it saying, "But I am in high school; I should not be afraid of the dark!" I am a college grad (with a Psychology degree nonetheless), and I am afraid of the dark. I sleep with the hall light on and sometimes with the tv or radio on. I have noticed that I sleep much better if someone else is with me. Maybe a sleep over would help you too? I live alone right now, and a week or two ago, the power kept going out. I had to look for a flashlight in the dark. I carried that flashlight around for like three days after so that I would not be caught in the dark like that again. xp I used to like scary movies, but I cannot watch them anymore. Even if it is just a little creepy, I can't watch it. I turn away even when previews for scary movies come on. The plot of the movie is often not even all that scary, but they always have a creepy looking shot of a ghost or something that I just know I will see as soon as close my eyes to go to bed that night. xp Don't be afraid to do anything that might help you just because you think it seems "childish."

I just can't ever sleep.

Everything I SHOULDN'T be doing at 1AM.
The dark stopped bothering me a while ago,
But I have seven nightlights just in case.
See,
All you have to do is get a pretty one.
Like,
Put a pink shaded light in the lamp and let it have a soft glow on the room.
It's great atmosphere,
And it's not too bright to keep you up.

Soft, classical music..that helped my lil sis when she was afraid of it, she got better and was able to sleep =)
