so we were playin' musical horses basiclly last night, and this girl was ridin' her pony *she ownes it* and she wanted to jump my horse cause he was learin' and she teaches them and practice with them all, so i got on her pony!
i posted pretty good on her and was on her about an hour...
so as i was gettin off... i threw myself off like i usally do in my western saddle, no sturipps and just throw leg over and walla, type of thing...well...
short pony compared to BIG tall horse,... there is some distance between you and the ground... i forgot to readjust and landed on my butt i went...
it was funny and somehow got sand in my wallet
i havn't been in here for a while, but i felt the need to shear that story with ya'll

I did the same thing once. I'm use to riding big horses and I was on a pony one day and I nearly fell over because I didn't realise how small he was!

something similar happened to my once. it was humiliating, lol. my friend and i switched horses for a ride once. she's 5' even and im 5'10. her horse (ehem, pony) is 13.2 my horse is 16.1, lol. anyways, she wanted to see what an extended trot waas like and she needed help gettign the pony round so we switched.
when it was time to get off, she volted herself and landed like 5 feet away from my horse, lol. wheni got off, i lean forward and swung my leg over. only problem, was my left leg hit the sand before my right leg was completely over the butt, so i was doing a "ballet" stretch on her butt for half a second before i fell on my butt! haha! the pony just looked at me like "what the hell?" lol

See, this has never happened to me, because when I started training, I started with ponies. I'd get up and break them to a rider (and I still do) therefore I am used to just slipping off. I just slide sideways until my foot touches the ground, and then swing my other leg over.

you guys are lucky! I never get to ride ponies, the barn I went to didnt have any! all like 50 of the horses were 15hh or up!

In my stables all the ponies are the fast ones that are really eager to go. Everyone loves them, especially the mares somehow they all seem to get faster as they get older.

i wouldn't know if i'm good at riding ponies or not though i probably would fall on butt. either that or i'd twist an ankle (sooo prone).

lol i fell off a white mare...but when i rode this crazy horse (he was a really cute one though..miss him a lot) i never fell...i guess that's because i was used to him and i was a big 'experienced' lol. He would suddenly turn in gallop from a stop and make a sudden stop. it was scary

haha the first time i jumped a pony i fell off rofl . it was wonderful. it was just a little cross rail and i'm used to 16H+ horses so i was thinking that it would be like nothing.........little did i know that is wasn't haha. I was so surprised and just started laughing the second i hit the ground. rofl the horse just kinda stood there and looked at me as if saying "what the heck are you doing down there?" rolleyes
