(( Kastor ))

The last colored rays of the sun were fading as the yellow orb climbed into the sky to mark past day break. Kastor had risen with the last few stars and taken to the sky briefly to hunt for himself in the woods nearby. Having eaten his own fill, he returned to their campfire with a rabbit in his mouth to lay before the smoldering coals. Once that was done, he laid down under the old oak they had camped beside, awaiting Umaia.

Within another hour, the half-human was awake and moving about groggily. He stumbled through restarting the fire, putting the rabbit on a skewer and propping it up to roast over the open flames. "Where're you takin' me now, dragon?" Umaia's tone was harsh and gravelly, eaten by harder times that were only proved by his lineage. Half dark elf and half human had caused him trouble enough to turn to thievery. The dragon had caught him one day in the market place - right behind the collar in those small jaws of his. And he hadn't let him go ever since.

"You've proven yer point well enough. It's time you leave off," he poked absently at the fire with a stick, running a dark hand through his black hair that was tinged with midnight blue. He had leather boots and a leather jerkin on, a lighter colored pants and a long-sleeve undershirt.

Kastor turned his head to look at Umaia, shaking out his mane. "Not so much in the world, dark one." He sighed heavily. There were things that he simply could not explain to his unbeautiful.

(( Ealir'faryn ))

Darkness had faded to nothing, and yet she did not feel tired. Moving swiftly, the fire wyrm had covered much ground since sundown yesterday. Pausing finally, her adrenaline began to lose its high. She listened hard, hoping to hear his voice, but it didn't work. All she could hear were a few voices and hooves as her bonded followed up on that steed of hers. With a small sigh, Ealir'faryn's head drooped, red eyes glancing back to spot her little one following up behind her. What fun. She remarked over their connection, smiling weakly as last night's events began to catch up with her.

I wouldn't define that as fun, and if you weren't insane, you wouldn't either. The young woman snapped irritably, hazel eyes gleaming as the jet black horse came to a halt beside the wyrm. Strands of brown hair hung in her face until long pale fingers pushed them back behind her ears. Are you going to be okay?

I'm fairly sure that I will be fine. Ealir's glowing orbs rested onto her bonded's cold ones, tiny wings flaring as the amulet around her neck shimmered. She stood up, as if the powers from Hell itself gave her the strength to go.

Good. I still have a score to settle with you.

And I with you.
The mutual like and dislike between them hung in the air with that finality as they started off again.

It was Kastor's eye that caught the two in the distance. He spread his wings slightly, rising onto his hoofed feet. Could these that approached be against them? He snorted and wrung out his mane again for the thought of it. "Do not stray from camp, I fly not far from mine." The wyrm pawed the ground with a heavy front hoof before launching into a swift trot that allowed him to spread his wings and launch into the sky. His swift, sleep-powered wingbeats moved him quickly towards direct interception of the pair. He was not one to wait for trouble, yet like Umaia sought it out. It was not in malice that he moved towards them, but rather in a need to protect his own. He could not allow things to get out of his claws this late in the game.

The hybrid was left sitting in the dirt beside the fire, blinking slightly at the dust Kastor had kicked up from his quick movement. He had no plans of leaving a meal half-cooked on the fire - nor in truth of leaving Kastor if only for the fact that he fed him. How funny the role-reversal from man and beast.

Ealir's head lifted, eyes seeking out the form flying towards them. A small groan shifted from both bonds, the two not eager to see a light wyrm right now. The fire female lifted her head, watching the opposite get closer and closer. Speak your business. Her words were full of command she did not currently feel, the voice of her lord and master still remaining silent.

Halen held onto the reins of her horse steadily, watching the oncoming figure. If this one chose to fight, there would be little hope. They had cut it too close last night, and both felt drained now that the running was done. Ealir...

I will not let him harm you, I swear.
This seemed to calm the woman down considerably, but Ealir was not convinced she could do so. If only she could get this amulet off before it got a clear picture...

A deep voice rang up from the depths of hell itself, speaking silently for her ears alone. But that would mean disobeying me. And my hand must remain strong.

The thought of removing the Devil's amulet flew from her mind as quickly as the words were spoken, a contented feeling radiating from her. Yes, Master. She thought to herself and to him, settled with the thought that he was watching.

What're you after, wyrm? Umaia's voice was weak in the back of Kastor's head, and he ignored the hybrid's question. It was easiest to not explain things to that one. He concentrated on winging his way closer to the pair, his expression drawing tighter as he could see the female wyrm more clearly. She looked like trouble - more trouble than his unbeautiful.

He growled lightly, wheeling to a halt in mid-air and beating his wings to remain in place as best as he could manage. I should demand the same from you, riding the wind through here with such malice at your heels. Kastor didn't get close enough for a normal speech with her, and frankly didn't seem to trust that sort of closeness.

What is it yer huntin' now, dragon? I've seen you wheel like that 'afore, but the sun's just risen. Your power's stunted now. Again, Kastor ignored Umaia's probing question, favoring his bonded with a sharp growl.

And I wonder to what ends you bear that amulet? The wyrm addressed the other once more, tail lashing in the air below him.

Ealir felt strengthened by her master's voice, though not enough. That is not business of yours, Light Wyrm. She stated without feeling. I would prefer that it remain that way. It was for their safety that they should not know what waited in the darkness. Their safety...

"Ealir," Halen's voice was quiet and sharp, trying to keep the adult from getting into a fight. She turned her head towards the one in the sky, wishing with all her might that she had a bow in her possesion. But alas, the gods refused to answer her prayers.

My master commanded that this amulet be mine, and so it has become. I see no reason to question it. She growled, tail flicking idly to the side away from Halen. This would tire her out considerably, but she ahd to be able to fight.

Kastor backwinged slightly, having a bit of difficulty remaining in one place; he wasn't built for hovering and indeed gliding suited him better. If you come much farther, it becomes my business. His green eye settled briefly to a point below them, where Halen and her mount waited. Much in the effect that if I were to come much closer, my business would become yours.

He kept the distance between them steady now, tail curling up behind him slightly before unwinding and lashing the air. A single tufted ear was canted back in the direction he had come from, the other tilted forward towards the shadow wyrm and her human. He was not physically built for fighting - especially not air combat. His large wings were meant for gliding and long-distance flying, not for close-quartered manuevering. He also lacked claws and hands to grapple with. But that just implied that he picked his fights from a greater distance.

There is no reason for you to pass through here, unless there is something you wish to share with me. It seemed he had dropped the subject of the amulet, perhaps having already made a decision concerning it or perhaps it truly no longer interested him.

We were taking this route towards my home. Home... It brought up a small flicker in the back of her mind of little Light and Thrynor. She was going to head there, hoping they'd take her... let her sleep until he called again. Keep Halen there and safe. It had been too close. I am too weakened by our travel for a detour. I swear no harm upon you upon the god I worship. Her flightless wings folded against her back as she looked up.

Ealir's glowing eyes seemed to dim a bit, the crimson gaze falling down to the ground. What kind of way to fight was this, looking away from her opponent? Stay off the fight... Just get back to the volcano now. The light in her orbs suddenly leapt back to life, her head giving a small shake. Stay strong, Night Rose.

Kastor nodded slowly, cupping the edges of his wings inside to bring him into a slow stoop. After fifteen feet from the other wyrm, he fanned out his large wings until his rear cloven hooves touched the ground before folding his wings for his front half to settle. There is a stream nearby that runs clear, and the forest has plenty of food. His yellow-tufted tail continued to lash slightly, the tip curling up and out of the dirt.

I, likewise, mean you no and yours no harm. You might want to keep away from what belongs to me, however. He is not like yours. He snorted lightly, the tip of a hoof digging a small trench from his own anxious pawing.

Are you coming back, wyrm? I'm starting ta think I should best move on. Kastor's single ear facing them flicked back. Keep your place, he directed sharply to Umaia before purposefully righting one ear back towards the other bonded pair.

The forest sounded appealing, but she just couldn't do it. I cannot take a detour, light wyrm. I need to get to my home. Ealir watched him carefully, her senses staying tuned to the rest of the world, waiting for him to speak. If her master would just speak or give her strength... But no aid came.

Belongs to you? We are not theives, and I have no interest in harming your bond! Believe me, I wouldn't be out in the light if that was my intention. Stealth was her job, but why did there have to be a block the one time she slipped?

Kastor's mind reflected a blank tone as he replied to her comment, I fear more that he would harm yours. He paused a moment, then continued on. The forest lies in this direction, unless you intend to change direction before reaching it. He didn't seem to fear the pair in front of him one bit, going so far as to turn and glance over his shoulder to insist the direction he was referring to.

But my insistence was more that you seem like you could use the nourishment. His tail flickered behind him again, and he turned from them fully this time, walking back the way he had flown in from.

Without turning his head over his shoulder, he offhandedly commented, Starlight is not the same as light. His nuetrality on things was bared plain, despite his obvious distaste for certain things.
