Free breakfast was always a good thing. Considering the rather high expenses relating to this hotel trip, if there was a way to save money, most people would leap at the opportunity to do so. As such, nearly everyone in the hotel did so, and were gathered around the lobby area. Some were simply eating a bowl of cereal and staring aimlessly off into space, others attempted to take as much food as they could, and a few people were ignoring the food entirely and using the time to plan a strategy.
These people were gathered around one table, looking at a map of the hotel that someone had taken the time to draw up. “Down to business. How can we avoid the sniper in here?” the person everyone had gathered around asked. An arm, belonging to someone in the crowd, reached over their shoulder and pointed to the map. The person it belonged to spoke, “Well. The center of the hotel is, basically, a cylinder. In the middle, at the bottom, is a fountain, and this lobby. Everything else branches out from here.”
Someone else then pointed out, “And there are 16 floors, each with two balconies. The balconies spiral around like so, so that there are two floors with the same balcony positions, and the distance thereof eight floors apart from each other.”
Another voice yelled out, “But that’s confusing! What’s your point?”
Sighing, Heart Shaped Toastie stepped outward and answered, “The point is that since the balconies are designed in a spiral, we can basically be sniped at from anywhere in the hotel. It’s a rather unfortunate design choice. Had they all been in the same place, we could use the balconies as cover.”
“So what you’re saying is that there’s nowhere we can hide?”
Reluctantly, Toastie nodded. “We can’t hide in the rooms that branch off. People have been sniped there. Whoever the Sniper is, they know the hotel better than we do. We’re going to have to plan our actions if we want to be able to catch the sniper without all of us dying.”
By this time, the crowd had backed away from Toastie, no longer talking, but listening to her reasoning. “So what do you propose we do?”
“Well…I’ve got something figured out! What we do is—“ Toastie answered, then fell to the ground. From the uppermost balcony, someone had sniped her, leaving a bullet hole in the center of her back.
“…Damnit!”

After yesterday’s fiasco, the voting was much more subdued. People, using paper pads that had been found in a spare closet, wrote their votes and dropped them into a hat over the course of the day, certain that they wouldn't get fooled again.‘Christa and Roy Salamandra had volunteered to count the votes, and at the end of the day, after everyone else had gone to bed, they did so.
“…And another vote for me,” ‘Christa mumbled. “That means…I’m going to jail?”
Nodding, Roy grabbed onto her arm and began to take her upstairs. “That’s a bit unfortunate. And you helped count the votes, too!” He grabbed a key out of his pocket and unlocked the large padlock on the doors to the ballroom, tossing `Christa inside.
Kori, still tied up, hopped over to Roy and dragged him inside the jail, the padlock closing behind him. “…Thanks, Kori! Now I’m stuck in here! You don’t need to be upset just because you’re in jail and I’m not!”
“Correction,” replied Kori, “you weren't in jail. You are now. We voted for you..”
