This is a kind of "brag-board" where you can discuss your skills as a cosplayer. If you're particularly skilled at a certain element of making costumes - be it metalwork, propmaking, working with vinyl, embroidering, making military-style jackets, making wings, wig-styling, makeup, beading, jewellery, anything - talk about it here! Also, feel free to discuss skills you would like to improve upon. This way, guildies will know who to ask if they are planning cosplay or if they encounter a problem during the construction process.
As I have just started my new life as a cosplayer, I can't really tell what I'm good at yet, but I plan to find that out soon and hone my skills. whee

I'm good at innovating new ways to use matewrials for things like skin tight feather suits and robbed unitards and such, but I think my biggest cosplay related talent is in my ability to gather information, and then share it, partuclarly by presenting it through panels.

I can somehow make corsets. I have no idea how I have the patience for it, as I'm usually very impatient.
Then again, none of the corsets I've made have been very difficult, nor have they been the "take 2-4 inches off the waist" kind.

LOL My only real skill is being able to visualize realistic versions of the costumes and making them so they look somewhat practical. My Goku (Saiyuki) cosplay I made mostly from Muslin and leather. It just seemed more practical than cheap shiny material.
I'm also good at styling my hair without wigs. Somehow when I do my hair in the ridiculous styles, it just looks natural^_^

my biggest cosplay skill is being able to look at a picture and make the costume with out a pattern and have it fit. my freya costume was made by looking at an art card and guessing and it worked. -F

Damn...I wish I could do that...Whenever I start a costume, I have to go to my friend who works at Mens Warehouse to get measurements. That's a bit of a hassle, but I'm not that good at eyeing like you are^_^. You have a valuable skill!

I supposedly have a knack for styling wigs. I think my Paine wig sucks, though. But oh well. *rofl*

I have a talent for changing my mind several million times. And bribing people into cosplaying with me if they know what I'm talking about. *points at brother* Of course, that isn't very good, so....
I'm good at finding the right pattern needed for things. Such as my Schezka costume that I'll be working on in a few months. I also have an innate talent for figuring out how to modify patterns to fit what I want. Not very good at telling my mom how to do it though. Oh, if I only was good at sewing.
Ah! I'm good at making jewelry and small props that usually aren't noticed or crafted well. I've made Hatsuharu's necklaces, Inuyasha's rosary, Kagome's bottle of shards, the shikon no tama, Kagura's earrings, Miroku's earrings(Yeah, too many Inuyasha references), Hiei's koorime tear necklace, Yukina's spiky hairpiece...I made an ORBO necklace once.

I have a talent for, ah....sewing. Whether it be hand-sewn, machine sewn via regular machine, or even finished via serger...I can do it, and in about half the time of all my other sewing friends. I also have an aquired talent for pattern making and modifying, and I can tell which peices of a pattern go together, and the manner in which they do, just by looking at the shapes of the fabric... Mind you, most of my knowledge is aquired *pats her stack of sewing and costuming books* and most of my skill is honed through massive amounts of practice. *was, for 4 years, a costumer for an opera company* I think, though, the "skill" that most comes in handy for cosplay is keen eye. I have a wider range of color diffrentiation, allowing me to match colors almost perfectly (even when re-mixing paint). Though, it does make it harder to find the perfect fabric. sweatdrop I've been looking for just the right shade of lavendar linen for my Virginia costume for....Well, it's got to be at least a year, now... Now, to balance out my mad-skillz in sewing, I have two major cosplaying minuses....1: I'm a ******** Nazi when it comes to accuracy, at least for my own costumes....This counts for renfaires, too. I simply WON'T wear it unless it's accurate...Ghetto costumes can be accurate, but I've seen some beautifully made costumes that simply DON'T look like what they were supposed to...Burns my twinkie, and I'd never, ever wear them. The my second deficiency is....props and dodads *hangs her head* All those mad hand-skillz that I have in sewing go right out the window when it's time to fashion anything that's not made with cloth or paper mache. Give me sculpey, and you get a lump in return. Wood? Unless it's a set peice, it's going to be mangled out of recognition....Plastic? Let's not even go there... *Is DYING to get her hands on some Fosshape a cloth that hardens when heat is applied to it* Fosshape: http://www.dazian.com/html/fosshape.html

I've heard of that stuff! Sounds uber awesome. blaugh I have a knack for not being happy with any of my costumes when everyone else is. gonk Constantly, I hear myself saying, "The wig was too long... That was supposed to be gold... The stripes were 3cm too wide," and other stuff that always gets the response, "You're crazy." Umm....Being able to pull off looking like a man fairly well without actually looking like one day to day. xp If I can get into character, it's easy for me to pull off about anybody. But, *sighs loudly* I can't sew. sweatdrop I haven't had time to sit down and learn.
The rest is in the name.

Philisophical.Cheese I have a talent for changing my mind several million times. And bribing people into cosplaying with me if they know what I'm talking about. Ahahah me too. xD One of these days my friends are all going to shoot me because of it. I do waaaay to much planning on a costume. I overanalyze things by force of habit. I have no sewing talent whatsoever (my mom's teaching me, somewhat. But I still don't know enough to sit down and make something on my own xD) I like doing props... and the little stuff like trim. But the actual, raw construction... I'm just not good at it yet. The initial, planning, speculating, and realistic thinking is what I've been rocking so far.

I can make chibi-plushies, decently. My main trump is...
That I can alternate just about anything to avoid using a pattern/sewing from scratch! >|D .... ;;;; yes, I'm very lazy with these things, and my sewing machine is older so it's usually reluctant to cooperate with me on any big projects. ;-;
