Okay, about two days ago I went from an 8 to a 6 gauge. I took it out today to clean it and when I did it started to bleed. And I don't mean a little blood. There was alot. I have cleaned it and it is still bleeding and was wondering if this is to be expected or if it is something that I should be worrying about. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

How long did you wait after moving up to an 8g to stretch your - I'm assuming - lobes again? That might explain the excessive bleeding, if you tried to stretch too fast. Perhaps you just ripped off any scabs that might have formed from the initial stretching, before they had the chance to heal? That's the only reason I can think of to explain your bleeding, and if that's it then you shouldn't really have much to worry about, except to remember to go easy on your ears for a few days.

It is my lobes and I waited alil over three weeks before I went from the 8 to the 6.

There should never be any blood from a proper stretching. But do take care of it now as if it were a fresh piercing. If you have any true concerns always call or go see your piercer.

Remember: A piercing is a wound. Consequently, you should expect tenderness, swelling, discoloration, and possibly bruising, bleeding, and itching. Also, a natural part of the process for healing any wound includes the secretion of a white-yellow fluid (containing dead cells and blood plasma).
I am stretching mine as well. I go too much too fast. Last time it was a 8 to a 4. I knew it would bleed, but now that the numbers are getting smaller I have to slow down.
If you bled a lot. Make sure you are using anti bacterial soap to clean which you probably are anyways. Not sure if you know about sea salt soaks but they work wonders. Also, massaging your lobes with cocoa butter it will help it heal better.
Next time you go to stretch put it through the opposite way you normally do. [Instead of putting the taper through the front, put it through the back]. This will make sure you are not tearing too much of one side of the ear as well.

If you're bleeding than you either ripped the skin while stretching, or you're using crappy jewelry that your skin is bonding with. If you're not already, stick to something like implant-grade steel, titanium or glass. If it's still bleeding, downsize and make sure you've got good jewelry in so it can heal. And wait longer between stretches! gonk The larger you get, the longer you should wait, especially if you're having problems. 6-8 weeks is much healthier at that size.
Make sure you're using a taper and some sort of lube when you stretch. Also, try doing it right after a warm shower or soak your lobes for 5-10 minutes to loosen up the skin.
