Hi y'all heart
I was wondering who might be interested in starting a book club. Maybe it could be in the Elven forum, since I would guess many of you like fantasy literature and you are looking for things to do in these sub-categories?
The Lady Silver and I have already decided to chat about a new book each month through PMs, because we both love reading, and being able to talk about books makes the experience even better. I thought it might be fun to open it up to more people, as long as Silver is okay with that...
It would probably work out that we would choose a novel each month to read, and then chat about it in the forum either as we read, or by a certain date that we hope to be done. As long as people promise not to include spoilers!
Just give me an idea here of what everyone thinks, and maybe we can start something for January.

i think thats a really cool idea as well!
im kinda weird about books tho. sometimes ill read one in a few days or less, and then next ittle take me a few months. it all depends on what kind of "reading" mood im in ^^;
but anyway... if there was a forum for fantasy or general book discussion id definatly join in. and id also be willing to join in on monthly novels and stuff depending on how much time i have and such heart

I'm all for it and the more the merrier biggrin . Perhaps there could be a sticky or anoncement thread telling everyone what the book of the month is, then a sticky that is for discussion about the book of the month, then the other threads can suggest the next book, talk about different authors, characters - and as an extension, books that have been turned into movies what they left out, how we would have done them different and the list goes on (and on and on) anyway, enough said (from me at least lol).

I think its an excellent idea. I know when JavaBear gets a chance, he'd love this. He's an avid reader of books! Me, I like Sci-Fi, Fantasy and I'm leaning heavily towards Asian stories (like Edo period Japan, geishas, samurais, etc.)

What do you think of including it in the Elven Forest? I thought that might be a good use for one of the sub-forums, and it kind of fits in there.
Just to get a little, informal thread going now, has anyone read Eragon and Eldest...and is anyone excited to see the movie? I totally fell for these books, and I can't wait to see the movie for Eragon.

If we make this book club then everyone here has to read my book when it get's published kay.
But a nice book to read while we wait for that would be L.E Modesitte's Legacies. It's the first book of the Corean chronicles and I've always wanted to re-read it now that I've nearly finished the series and would like to see everything in the new light that reading prequels tend to do when one revisits a favourite series.

Yes, we're excited and looking forward to seeing Earagon...JavaBear has read the first two books and there is a third one coming out soon...John Malkovich plays the bad guy!

Hi again -
I'm not sure if...should I set up threads, or should one of the moderators? I just had the idea, but I don't want to step on any toes. Let's see - a thread for a new book each month, a thread for general book talk, a thread about movies coming out, and one for suggested novels to add to the "book of the month..." anyone else have ideas for categories?
Rhianwynn, I saw the images from Eragon and the Shade looks AMAZING. The only thing I'm a little disappointed in is that Eragon himself isn't at all the way I imagined him, but John Malkovich will be an amazing antagonist. I thought he was Galbatorix, but I could be wrong. Oh, and Saphira looks really cool too. I'm so excited.
J- Machine, of course we will read your book! I am looking forward to discussing books I haven't read before, because I think the first discussion of a new book is very different than when you have read something many times. I guess, though, that it will always be very difficult to suggest books that none of us have read. Hopefully every so often, we will find something that is brand new to all of us!
It's good to see a nice response to this idea. I'm getting very excited!

I'll have to see what I can do when I have more time. We are heading into the Pre Christmas crunch in school, and the students already think they are on holidays!!!
Arrgh! stressed
Anyway, maybe on the weekend, I can start something up...

So I did it!
I set up a thread in the Enchanted Forest of the Elvin Kingdom, and all are welcome to comment and make suggestions. Please join us to talk about your favourite books, fantasy or otherwise.
Also, Silver has started a cool thread about favourite authors in general. That would be fun to share too.
So, go and check it out. Even if you only read a little, all are welcome to contribute what they would like!
