I live in Portland, Oregon. I live in a "punk area" I guess you could say, but I don't get out much, so I don't know a lot of bands or anything like that.
Anyone know any good punk bands from Portland that I can take a look at?

Oh man, I heard the neo nazi scene up there just exploded! My best friend Jessica lives up there for a few months out of the year just like I live in Seattle for a few months, she said that if you are a minority or a punk you'd better not ride the trains after dark. Aparently the owners of the transit system only hire young wp kids to work the night shifts... spooky yes?

I had a guy who wouldn't date me because I was half native american a few years ago. And his sister was racist.

Nah, Jersey's got a pretty okay scene here, at least in the anti-nazi department. There's actually a good crew of Trads/SHARPs around my area, although they don't contribute much to the scene. Every time I put on a show they either show up drunk and break s**t, or don't have enough money to pay. That's a little stereotypical on my part though, in all honesty...
But seriously, yeah, come to Jersey, I need some mass destruction. It's only a six-hour drive. rolleyes

I NEVER pay for shows in my town. When I'm in other cities I do though, because that's the polite thing to do, but here I never do.

I thought about why Portland was in such racial turmoil (streetlevel anyway) and I came to the conclusion that Oregon is conservative (generally speaking) and white. Portland is in itself a very working class oriented town, and will therefor breed a lot of people of a working class image and hard attitude. A perfect skinhead town, or so I've been told by it's inhabitants. Plenty of jobs, a strong music scene.
But like Pan realized, who was the old boss skinhead of Portland (long before my timehowever): You simply have to add a dash of wp to an already angry scene and you have a bunch of nazis.
