I've noticed that some people here on Gaia on even other websites say that the name change of Zoro to Zolo (seen in english anime and manga) was a poinless name change. But I know the reason:

4kids claimed that the name change from the Zoro to Zolo was because of Japanese pronounceation (the Rs being rolled, sounding like an L, also taking there is no L in the Japanese language). But the auther Eiichiro Oda actually wrote the name Zoro in english some times (and also Lougetown). But viz media, the puplishers of the english One Piece Manga, arn't some westerized-freaks trying to make something Japanese into something completely kiddish and American, have actually said this:

In America, there is a Spanish "hero" named Zorro. When the First 3 volumes where created, using Zoro, the people in charge of the making the movie "The mask of Zorro" complained that Eiichiro Oda was "copying" the name Zorro (though they should actually be happy, because Zorro WAS the insperation for Oda to make Zoro a swordsman, and have him with the name Zoro). So viz had no choice but to change it to something different, and they chose to make it Zolo, so the Japanese wouldn't complain, because if they had an artical about english One Piece in a Weekly Shonen Jump issue, mabye, then they would still have to to right it as Zoro. But when it was made into an english anime, people asked 4kids insted of viz about the name change, and they said exactly what was in the paragraph abouve.
