I feel bad for Gaara thinking that killing was the only way for him to live. I do not blame him at all for it. He came up with that after a horrible childhood.

well gaara was innocent when he was a kid (and a super hard and sad life crying ) but because of he's past he evil and who can blame him for him being evil after all that he been through.

I don't think Gaara is evil at all. Think about this for a moment.
1) He has Shukaku inside of him; that may be part of it.
2) He has never been hurt or punished; his sand protected him, and everyone was afraid of what Shukaku would do to them if they did.
3) He's never been allowed to sleep because of his demon. If he ever fell asleep then it would take him over. Never sleeping takes a heavy toll on the body and mind.
4) Gaara has been feared by his own brother and sister, abused by his father (how else would you look at it?), and mentally and emotionally crushed by his uncle, the only person that even seemed to love him.
5) People had been sent to kill him since he was six years old; he's twelve when he is first introduced.
6) He has never truly felt loved in his life.
I can only deduce from these facts that Gaara, though violent and frightening at first glance, is not so much evil as he is frustrated, scared, and confused.
