The Village Hidden in the Cascades' urban area is split into two sections. The shopping district, and the Resturaunt district. This is the smaller, darker district. By dark, it means closer together, the streets are made of a black stone with dark blue speck, and it is more alive during the night.
During the night, the bars all light up with bright colors and happy laughter. Barmaids are scantily clad and bartenders always have the best booze and advice you could ask for, not to mention their specialty, jucito wine. A sweet wine that's strong enough to make Kouen weak and sweet as the fruit it's made from. All in all, a good place for those who want to forget their troubles, and relax for a bit, if just for one night.

Having not been to the village before, Kai was a little overwhelmed by the size of it, even if it didn't show on the outside. Remaining calm and composed he meandered through the crowds, and once or twice, it had been just that little too tempting not to take someone's wallet.
He ended up at the other end with about four wallets bursting with money. He took a little out of each and gave the rest to the beggars, and tossed the wallets. He headed into a cheap restaurant and ordered a cheap meal, something that would tide him over. He hadn't had a meal cooked for him in about three weeks, since he'd disappeared from his family home.
Family...what a pathetic word.

Having finished the meal and paid for it, Kai stood up, a few people watched him. He thought he'd been the quietest person there, but in fact, they were staring at him just because he was different. He had startling blue hair.
He walked out not particularly caring what they were thinking about him. If they wanted to say something, they'd suffer the consequences.
"Oi, puddle head!" A boy shouted from across the street, "Why don't ya go back to the river where ya belong." Kai stopped walking and turned slowly not meeting the boys gaze yet.
"What's up with that geek?" Another boy said next to him, "Do ya think he wants to fight?" Kai had already disappeared in a wave of crowd, but that wasn't the last they were going to see of him.

"Where hell?" One of the two boys said in exclamation. No one could move that smoothly. The boys looked at each other and then back to where the boy had been standing. They looked around, and then the other boy who hadn't spoken coughed.
"Ugh..." He said, and blood spilled from his mouth. The boy fell and before the other boy could react, Kai spun round driving his left foot into the boys chest. Slamming him into a wall behind. The boy coughed up a little blood but Kai wasn't finished and thrust his fist in a certain way into the boys abdomen lifting him up from the floor slightly. Then another alternating punch in the same place as the boy lifted up a foot or two.
Then just as the boy was coming back down, Kai's foot shot up greeting the boys chin. He went up again. There was nothing he could do he was completely trapped, and when he felt the next kick greet the side of his head, he realized that he was unconscious.
"Pathetic..." Kai said and was about to walk away when...

The other boy stood up in a fighting stance, the one which he'd decked earlier.
"You want a piece of us eh? Well you hafta fight me too," The boy said and charged with a punch. Unlike most, Kai didn't try to dodge the blow to the chest. Instead he allowed the punch to connect. True it was strong and it almost made him stumble, but it still created an opening.
The boy jumped back but Kai jumped forwards, smashing his fist into the boys torso. The boy jumped up and away, but he didn't jump fast enough and Kai had his foot lodged firmly in the boys stomach.
There seemed to be no reaction, as indeed the kick had been stopped before following through delivering pain, but nothing to cause the opponent to fly away. Then as the boy coughed up blood, Kai sprung up into a back flip and brought his heel down onto the boys head, sending him into a kneeling position.
People had begun to watch now, and although this wasn't what Kai had intended to happen, he went to walk away before the boy who had called him names stood up. They were strong...

Kai stopped and turned around, only to be kicked in the jaw sending him sprawling into the middle of the road.
"Not so tough now are ya! Punk." Kai stood up slowly, he hadn't been expecting that.
"We're Academy Students from here, so don't mess with us," He carried on, but Kai wasn't listening, the boy was insulting him just by standing there. Even more people were starting to gather and Kai walked towards the boy. The boy ran at him with a flying kick, and Kai ducked underneath it, until it was directly above him and then kicked straight up.
He jumped up after the boy, and gave him a double rising kick sending him up a few meters more.
"You might be an academy student...but your Taijutsu is pretty poor." Kai said as the boy hit the ground this time definitely unconscious. The other one hadn't even got up again, even though he was awake.
Kai walked away through the silent crowd.

A myrid of scents crowded the narrow alleyways, swelling underneath the bright moon and snowy sky. Music thumped out of open-doored bars, and the ocassional drunk reeled in the gutters. Appolyna went tripping down the street, her nose to one scent: the delicious smell of fried newt.
Ducking down alleyways and crampt pathways, she searched in vain. "Where is it!" She growled, stamping her foot down and startling several nearby pigeons. "Dang it..!"

After a few minutes, several turns, and one dead-end alley, a battered push-card is found. Teatering on two wheels bent out of shape, the cart leaned at a percarious angle. Smoke piped out of a rusted smoke stack duct-taped to the tin roof. Under the foggy glass was the most wonderous thing: three prongs filled with toasted newts.
Pressing her nose to the glass, Appolyna oggles the tasty treat. A battered looking man leaning against the wheel notices his new customer and calls out: " 'Ay choo! Ya wanna newt?"

Fumbling for her wallet concealed in her obi, Lyna nodds vigorusly. "Three, please!", she practically sings. Oh to find a tasty treat in a new city!
Crunching on her snack, she heads back down the alleyway. The battered zori she wears make an echoing clackity-clack. The 'way twists into another road, and Lyna stops to consult a battered map tucked into the boxy bow of her obi. "Where to next..?" After a moment's hesitation, she heads of into the night, whirling snow filling the footsteps the fall behind her.
