Do you like to respond to trolls/spammers?
Of course not! I'm offended that you would think such of me!
  No, I'm smarter than that.
  Yes I do!
I try not to, but sometimes the situation calls for it.

Rules and Guidelines

Hello all!
I feel that rules are not completely necessary, but I am posting them just in case.
Since you all are members of this guild, I trust that each and every one of you are dedicated to our common cause of saving the ED.
That being said, the purpose of the main forum of this guild will be to talk about plans to save the ED only.

1. There should be no talk of anything other than new ideas for saving the ED, petitions, trolls/spammers, or spam threads in this main forum.
It should go without saying, but please do not spam this guild. Posts an threads that are not about tolls/spammers, petitions, ideas, and things of that nature posted in the main forum are considered spam to the forum.

2. Keep to the TOS

3. As being a member here, you are dedicated to saving the ED.
Your task in being a member here and having this dedication is that you must report whatever spamming thread you see. It does not matter if it is a whole thread or just a post in the thread. Report it unflinchingly. It is also your task not to post in spamming/trolling topics and it is also your task to avoid responding to even spamming/trolling posts. If I see any member of this guild bumping up a spam/trolling topic or responding to a spamming/trolling post, I will first talk with that member about it, on the second offense I will again talk to them about it and I will talk to others about the issue, and on the third offense they will be banned from the guild. I understand that there are certain exceptions to this rule, and if you are one who likes responding to trolls/spammers, please bring it up with me in a PM and we'll discuss the special situation.

4. Please respect each other! This guild is about unity, so I don't want people completely hating each other. I have invited people of all backgrounds, beliefs, and opinions, so I'm sure that I have invited enemies of other people. If there is anyone in this guild that you just point blank do not like, please do not hestitate to PM "The ED Coalition" about the issue. Also remember that we are all united in our common wish that the ED was cleaned up. If any big fights or anything happen, please PM "The ED Coalition" about it. I will try to resolve the issue as quickly as possible. Remember what has been said in the first post of the database about how I want everyone to love this guild and be comfortable in it. I want everyone to have a great time here!
-Also please try and type legibly. I am aware that some of you may have trouble with this, and if you are a person who has a hard time posting legibly, please PM "The ED Coalition" about this. Perfect spelling is not required, but your posts should be able to read clearly. I do not want there to be huge misunderstanding between members because of a lack of correct grammer or too many mispelled words.

**Note!
This thread is not to be for suggestions or anything of that matter. If you have any suggestions, concerns, or problems please PM "The ED Coalition" about it. I will create a sticky for suggestions, and the most requested suggestions will be kept in the database announcement thread.

News!

  • November 29, 2006.-Petitions have been added to the database. More members have been invited, but far less than I wanted. I wish that more people would be recommended and that our guild would grow even more.
I have been busy today, and I know I will be much more busy tomorrow, but I'm sure that on Friday and Saturday that I will have plenty of free time to dedicate to this guild!
  • November 28, 2006.-The new sticky has been created, and it is still in the construction page. Suggestions for it need to be given.
The guild's growth has been astounding to me! We're currently at 164 members, but I want MANY MANY more! The invite rate has slowed, and since this week is a busy one for me, it may stay at a slow rate until Saturday, because on Saturday I'll have more time to really scope out the ED for new members.
The ED Coalition's mule's profile page has been updated, please check it out and leave a comment on it!
A lot of banners have been added, and they are wonderful, please keep them coming!
No one has PMed The ED Coalition mule about suggestions or anything. This is something I definitely encourage. I want to hear from all of you about what you think of this guild, and what you think should be done to this guild. Please do not hesitate to PM The ED Coalition about anything!
  • November 27, 2006; 8:04 PM EST-Big news! A new sticky will be made and it will serve as a sort of database. This thread will serve the single purpose of outlining the rules and getting the news. Suggestions and other things will go in this new thread I am creating.
The other big news is that I have created a new account specifically for this guild.
I strongly encourage each and every one of you to add: The ED Coalition.
All suggestions should be sent to this account, and everything I do in this guild besides invites will be done through this new account.
  • November 26, 2006.-The guild has been created. Banners are needed. The word needs to be spread. There are no subforums yet, or any extensive plans in action. This guild is at baby stage. The announcement post has been added, and so has the introductions post. More ideas for this guild need to be brought to me.

Might I suggest a few additional rules? Feel free to ignore them, I've just seen too many guilds that should be fun turned into the personal rant forums for jerks.

1. No spamming.
2. Please be literate. We're not going to send an army of flying momos after you if you misspell a few words but we'd like to understand what you're saying.
3. Follow the Golden Rule. It was good enough for Ghandi, Confucious, and Jesus, so it should be good enough for us.

Again, these are just suggestions.

Go ahead! I feel that communication is key, along with new and active members, to a sucessful guild.

1. No spamming.

I felt that this was included in my first rule, but I will make a specific addition to rule number one to encompass no spamming.

I'll add that.

I won't say,"golden rule", but I'll add a rule something like this.

And very good ones at that!

I just want to bring it up now, but I have "hard wiring" isues in my brain which make it extreamly dificult for me to spell. I do my best, but sometimes that is not enough. sweatdrop

I propose a subform for intelligent discussion, just as a primer for the great things to come. My true preference would be for one forum, two subs:

Intro Forum
Extended Discussion Forum - Coalition Advancement Forum

Of course, you may want to keep ED in the actual ED forum, but I for one find it too ridiculous to even post there now. One negative consequence of attempting to start our own ED within this mountainesque sanctuary is that it may draw the ED onto our guild, hence completing the Troll Takeover.

This is a war. Not sure what to do. Any takers on my two specific subforums idea?

Agree'd, Worse case scenerio - we'll acully be able to kick out trolls and spammers.

Another subforum idea could be a special home for petitions or ... well ... acully a sub-ED and a sub-Petitions would cover most of the bases X_x;

Just a question: would asking someone to elaborate on a statement be considered a violation to rule 3? Because that's something I do at times... Let's say, someone goes to a feminism thread, and says: "Women should stay at home and raise the kids!", and I ask said poster to elaborate on his opinion. Would that be a violation of the rules, or it would depend on wether or not the poster is troll/spammer, or someone midly intelligent that didn't feel like elaborating?

That would not be a volation of the rules.
To expand on rule 3, I was talking about people posting in threads that do not belong in the ED (threads with not discussion at all, one-liners, just pointless crap,"ahhsufohfoi" kinda stuff, begging threads, threads with only pictures), and saying,"GTFO!" or responding,"This does not belong in ED" or responding,"Thanks for reporting this thread. Keep this number in your records:----","That's stupid!","Don't post here again", that sort of stuff.
It also covers responding to posts with only pictures, and posts that are just meaningless such as,"Can someone be my friend?","Hi!!!1111!!!","ufbsuajso","Poop!", etc.

If you are responding to someone's relevant post on a thred in ED, but the post is not detailed at all, you are perfectly in your right to ask them to elaborate on their post, and I think that doing such is encouraging extended discussion in a good way.
