Sorry if I seem blunt, but I wanted to jump right into what I think is one of the biggest problems that the Administration has in cleaning up the ED: a lack of Moderators. While I can't find much fault in the work of the current Mods (though others might), they're only human. They can only do so much for so much time every day. Having more hands might help to take more of the strain off of the Administration's back as a whole, which I feel would certainly be conducive to faster, more effective moderating. What are your thoughts? Should the ED have more Moderators? Why or why not?

Yes, the ED should have more mods. There are many, many spam threads, and it would ease the weight of the current mods if there were more people to help out with the cleanup. Also, it would be better for us, because we wouldn't have to deal with seeing those threads on the ED, because it's annoying. More mods would be a good solution all around.

I think it's fairly obvious that all of Gaia needs more mods. The question is: who?
Perhaps an anonymous nomination system would work. People nominate users they want to be mods, the admins check out how long they've been on Gaia, check their posts for intelligent debate and what not, and make a decision based on that.

I know for a fact that Global Moderator fubenkunai is vying (Is that spelled right?) for more ED mods. Begging, really.

It'd be nice to be a mod... I'd be helluva stricter than current mods seem to be. As well as ONLINE MORE OFTEN. Which should definitely be a factor of moderatorism.

Linaloki's post brings up another point: do we know how many of the current mods even come to this site anymore?

Who knows! Not enough. We need dedicated mods. The kind that will dig, be on all the time, know what they're saying and be able to use power wisely.

What? I'm in no way implying you should check there for mods.

Poor Fuben was completely pile drived by the work in the ED before she became a Global Mod.

And I know that a large number of other moderators in the ED are overworked to an extreme.

Although I think many problems come from the fact that no one seems to report anything anymore, unless they are pissy about something, I agree with everyone on this.

More moderators will improve this situation all around. It won't solve it completely, but it is a necessary step to a solution to ED's woes.

lol, I'm very lucky. Everyone in TRC is so well behaved and nice. I barely have any work as a moderator in that guild at all.

I am all for more mods.

Though I am curious, which part of ED sub-forum did you have in mind?

The entire ED needs mods! But the general ED needs it worse, since it doesn't have restrictions on what kind of topics can be placed there (except they should be intelligent) instead of limiting to technology or religion.

fuben and Cloverina were the only mods I ever saw online back in the olden days. And fuben's the only one you'll find on at odd times of the night, when the trolls love to attack most. I know, I've checked. stare

Seriously, though. We should write a note to Lanzer or something, describing the situation in earnest and fullness.

Well ED Reg. I think needs more.

M&R seems fine though. For the most parts the noobs stay out. And our mods are awesome I think smile

People keep on telling me I should be a moderator.

Mainly because I have no life.

What we need are moderators in different timezones. That way someone will be awake while the others are asleep and working on the reports so they don't build up.

Personally, I'm amazed Gaia hadn't figured out this tiny but very important detail.
