This thread is for RP occurring at the Talking Rock Lakes (also known as East Lakes), the largest freshwater lakes on Orchestra. And home of the Talking Rock! @w@
The East Lakes are actually two springs. The smaller of these springs feeds into the larger through an underground stream, while the larger is the the source of the Orchestra River. These lakes are surrounded by the West Woods, but any activity within the lakes area should be here.
Have fun!

Two figures were very preoccupied on the beach of the lakes. One was small and rather furry with a long tail, and the other a small dragon with long hair bounding across the sand and gravel after it, kicking up the ground as she struggled for traction. At that moment the rodent had the upper hand.
With a flick of her wings she was airborne and diving at the animal, faster now that she didn't have to fight with the loose rocks. As she crashed into the ground to catch the squirrel she heard it squeak in distress, yet it slipped through her hands and left tiny footprints across some mud as it bounded for the trees.
Martina was left there, lying on her stomach with new dirt all over as she watched her prey escape. She scowled darkly and rolled over onto her back, and automatically her tail rose to her face where she bit it firmly in serious contemplation. How did one catch squirrels anyway? They were rather fast.

Calm down. Calm down. Deep calming breaths. One, two, three. One, two three.
He'd lost his daughter. And it wasn't the first time either. Oh, he was going to be in so much trouble. He'd been flying around frantically ever since he'd realized and had had no luck thus far.
"MAAAARTIIIIINAAAAAA!" Pir wailed loudly as he sped through the lagoon area, taking a few moments to catch his breath before calling out her name again.

Martina's very important thoughts about catching rodents were interrupted by something that sounded suspiciously familiar calling her name. She sat up, tail still in mouth, and rubbed one eye. She didn't see the source of the yell, but all the same called back (with a hint of curious annoyance).
"Not heeeere!" She started with enthusiasm, but trailed off as she was distracted by a twig that had made it's home in her hair. She brought herself to her feet and took several preoccupied steps to hide behind a large rock. Better safe than sorry, she thought at the stubborn twig.

Not here either?! Oh, Pir was in so much trouble. So, so much trouble.
...Hey. Wait.
Didn't that voice sound familiar?
Oh, Pir was so confused now. He continued flying around frantically and headed towards the general area he'd heard the voice come from, but couldn't find anything but a rock.
A talking rock?!
Oh, he should have brought dad along. This was a very, very bad idea.

The talking rock in question suppressed a pleased squeak when she noticed who it was that had called for her. Crouching down beneath the rock, she prepared for the jump. Her tail twitched in anticipation. Closer, closer...
When Pir was finally near enough she lept full throttle at her father, ready to latch onto him with whatever she could. Thrilled didn't quite do her justice.
"Daddy!" She cried mid-dive.

"AHHHHHHHHHH!" Pir screeched as a white blur leapt out from behind the rock and attacked him. "Getitoffgetitoffgetitoff," he flailed and Martina's momentum sent them both crashing towards the ground. In a jumble of limbs, Pir scrunched his eyes shut, too scared to get a good look at his assailant.
"Please don't eat me!"

Martina settled herself firmly on Pir's stomach, hands pushing down on his shoulders. She had the prideful look of a very accomplished individual; surely this was something to be proud of. If her hands had not been occupied she would have taken a moment to preen. Instead she flipped her hair hands-free as best she could. The feminine gesture came out awkward.
"You're too big to eat," she chirped, "and you're you." Her tail flicked back and forth cheerfully in time with her last comment: "You're easier to catch than squirrels, though."

Slowly, very slowly, Pir found the courage to crack one eye open and look up into the face of his attacker. ..White face.. ..big green eyes.. why.. it looked rather like..
"MARTINA!" Pir wailed, opening both eyes wide. He'd found her! Or, rather, she'd found him.
But this was still good! He wasn't about to be eaten AND he'd found his daughter!
"Martina! You shouldn't go out alone! Something might eat you and then Sunday will make angry faces at me!" And that would clearly be a Very Bad Thing.

"I'm not going to be eaten!" she insisted, releasing her father's shoulders to fold her arms. The very idea that she would be eaten was ridiculous. Only little things got eaten, and she, certainly was not little. Not that little, at least. She was growing.
"It's just so boring back there," she whined at Pir and climbed off him to perch on the rock instead. "Can't I go out? You're always doing something else and... and..."

Pir looked up at his daughter and sighed. He was awful at this parenting thing. Why couldn't you just tie draclings up to a tree and let them take care of themselves? But Martina was too clever for that and it wouldn't work out anyway. Why did his daughter have to be so smart? He supposed he ought to be proud of her.
"You can go out, but you can't go alone..." Pir trailed off as he realized where his daughter was sitting. "MARTINA!!! Get off that rock! It's a dangerous talking rock!!!" He stood up, waving his arms fractically and tried pulling her back down.

Martina's face lit up as she tried to dance out of Pir's reach. "Talking rock? Rocks can talk?" She had never heard of this before, and the idea was incredibly novel. Immediately she set to inspecting it. Surely if this rock could talk it would tell her to stop poking it.
"Are you sure it can talk? Grandpa's never said anything about talking rocks." She thwapped it firmly with her tail and braced for a chiding from the stone.

Pir gasped loudly as Martina began to tease the rock, covering his eyes with his hands.
Oh this was the end of them for sure!
The suspense was terrible! Any moment now! Any... moment... now....
Slowly he uncovered his eyes and saw the rock hadn't budged an inch, nor made a sound. "I heard it talk before! I swear!"
