Browsing LJ and I find an entry by a Harmonian. Here's the link. In her rant, she prefers HMS Harmony to HMS Pumpkin Pie. I can't help but agree with her. Reasonable reasons to follow: 1. No canon to back up Pumpkin pie. It's based on a fic shippers; shouldn't it be base on canon instead like Harmony? 2. It really is one of those wtf names what you think about it. 3. What's the thing behind it? It's pumpkin and pie; does that really represent us? I really do like pumpkin pie but for our ship's name I've always liked Harmony first and foremost. Hah! Harmony, man, Har-mo-ny! For one thing, it illustrates how well they get along, for another thing, it sort of jabs at how our main rival ship totally lacks any and all harmony (tee hee) and for another thing, it's traditional. Most ship names come from merging of names. The best ones do anyway.

I like Pumpkin Pie, but the main ship name I use is Harmony. It just.. sounds better? I don't really know.
Like yuna1881 said, as long as we're all supporting the same ship .. it doesn't really matter..
But, for the sake of answering the question .. I choose the HMS Harmony<33

I also choose HSM Harmony. I didn't have a clue what Pumpkin Pie meant until Rhowenn explained it to me, so I doubt that the other shippers get it either.
That, and for the other reasons you guys mentioned.

Harmony represents the idea of Harry/Hermione being together. Thus Harmony sounds like Har-mione. A combination of the name of sorts. But some people don't like this because there's no Harry Potter reference with the exception of the name being a play of the combination of the two.
Other's like Pumpkin Pie because it's the community being together and Pumpkins are a part of the Harry Potterverse. And it's one of the first fics to represent the minority coupling.
I love both, but I prefer Harmony.

I ran into Pumpkin Pie first and ususally whatever I find first, is my favorite. (Like H/Hr. ^_^)
Harmony is a good name too though.. But it doesn't really matter. They all represent the same thing. =]

I prefer Harmony better than pumpkin pie but I still like both ship names. It really doesn't matter for some people, however, I've seen a few on harmonyforever forums who passionately hate pumpkin pie with a venom. They like pumpkins, don't get them wrong, they just prefer that the offical ship name be harmony (which describes HP/HG perfectly and is sort of a neat mixture of their names).

I feel so very stupid. What is the difference? I've never heard Pumpkin Pie until now so yeah.
I voted for Harmony though, because it's easy to see what it is about. Like Heron, which is also easy to understand however wrong it is.

When I first got into fandom, my reaction was very similar to reading HBP. Harmony just makes more sense in my opinion.
PS xxqueenofrockxx, your siggy is too true. Harry should definitely watch Hermione study a bit more. I'm pretty sure she wouldn't mind. wink Can I ask what site you got it from?

Okay, well, I prefer using Harmony because of the play on words.
"Har" - for Harry.
"mony" - for Hermione.
It was just clear for me from the beginning who it stood for, even if it didn't play on their names because their relationship suited it the best, didn't it? However, I also have nothing against the Pumpkin Pie-thing. Someone was creative enough to spin it around into something huge and the whole of the Harmony shipping world began to use it to an extent, so it makes sense that it came from somewhere.
