So while the head honcho takes you through 101. Second in command Psyk_e is going to add some helpful hints for those who would like to add a roleplaying edge.
Helpful Hints
Disclaimer: This Helpful hints section is meant to be fun and add edge to your RPing. In no way is anyone doubting your RP skill or boasting theirs. ^^
Hint #1: Remember the writings of books, magazine articles, manga, and even anime sometimes O.o.
There are a couple ways to write....Even though some of the ways are acceptable some just look prettier than others. Try adding a little bit of word choice.
"The man with the blue shirt walked down the street."
Yeah it works...But lets see how much better it can flow with just a minor change.
"The man with the blue shirt strolled casually down the street."
See how much better...Just adds flavor ya...
Lets add it to a role-playing environment.
The sword came fast almost too fast. Barely able to escape Kyte moved from the swords line of attack. The sword left only a small cut across the shirt.
See once again the above sample would be acceptable RPing. But how about this.
The steel blade flew toward Kyte like a lighting bolt crashing to the ground. Barely able to move away from the sharp object ready to tear him to shreds. Kyte slid to the side watching the sword dart by him.
Kyte looked down at his shirt seeing the small cut across his side. It went through his shirt like a butcher knife cutting butter, "Good thing I moved."
There will be more to come.. ^^ domokun domokun

Helpful Hints
Hint #2: The introduction is a very important part to your role-playing. As many Role Players know, the entrance can be the defining post you make. It lets people know how you are going to come into the game, own it or not own it, nub it up or not nub it up, or if your are very wordy without meaning anything (I struggled with this mistake a lot).
One of the best things to remember about the entrance is. If you include as much as you possibly can without boring anyone. You have done a good job.
Usually entrances appeal very high to the senses. Making note to the surroundings your character is in is important. The sounds, motions, looks, smells, and feelings of the room must leap at the character and the reader.
Sometimes fleshing out helps. I like to keep a good rule of thumb, sometimes something might have little relevance to the story in a post. However, with an entrance it does not matter. If your character has entered for the first time they don't know what is going on.
Do not assume.
Examples. Good: As Felicia entered the room her hair swayed back and forth with each step she took. Her long flowing hair waived making it seem like rays of golden light were moving across her hair as she walked. Felicia took pride in this she always entered a room and took everyones breath away. Her hair could turn the eyes of any man it seemed.
Bad. Felicia entered the room in her usual fashion. Letting all the guys know she was there. She had been there continuously day in and day out. Everyone knew her hair from a mile away.
Why bad? Elementary my dear Watson. You see in the second example although a regular to the area, NPC's, and people that know the character would know her hair was captivating. Other would not. Make sure to take in to consideration. Not everyone is a regular. Save posts for these when you are Rping with characters that you see a lot.
So that is is for Psyk_e's Hints. Stay tuned for more...
