I'm typing up a little background story for the guild. Basically just a fun little story about how all the realms tie in together to give members and newcomers something to read and even role-play off of when they join a Realm.

I think what we'll do is possibly make this into a continuing storyline for the guild itself, which we can use to set up the motive for quests and such..

I'm still playing around with the idea.

I'm also going to post the first part of the story in the guild description, to give non-members a sort of prelude to what to expect when they join the guild. ^^

I think it's a good idea, but to be completely honest, the writing style seems somehow too personable. For an RP guild, it somehow gives a slightly godmodish feel, with the uses of 'you' and assuming what people would do in that situation, if it's supposed to be a history for everyone arriving at the guild. I'd write up a more analytical-styled summary of events for the history, but yours does work, too.

All in all, I'm indifferent, I s'pose.

It'll be interesting to see where the character ends up; honestly I've read a lot worse prose that has been published and widely sold. (not mentioning any names for fear of reprisal heh.)

It makes me want to continue to read and that's what it's all about eh?

it reminds me a bit of Planescape: Torment, the RPG game from Interplay in the late nineties. In it you woke up as someone with amnesia, in a mortuary. You then find yourself in a city that connected all the planes of existance together; the city of Doors called Sigil.

I know this is different, but that still sprung to mind wink

Anyway keep up the good work!

And no the Captain didn't pay me (much) to say this, heh.

Well, there's a good reason it's written from that perspective. The story is being told from the second perspective of someone who "lands" himself in the nexus between the Realms. I like the second perspective, because it makes the story more personal, because it really is about the guild and those of us who are part of it. Third person is too impersonal, so it might disassociate the reader from the story too much, and people might lose interest in what's going on in the story. Rest assured, the story is not about the person reading it, just told in that perspective. Meaning when you read the story, you don't have to RP in your Realms as if that was you in the story. If I'm not making any sense, I'm sorry, it's late. razz

I don't want to give away too much about the storyline, though.

I'm always open to criticism though smile

Interesting. I've never had the pleasure of playing that game.

Aahh, see, now it makes sense. I'm over-all not a fan of first-person narratives or second-person perspective (and I've no clue exactly why--if I find out, I'll explain), so that bias probably tained me a bit.

You made lotsa' sense. I do also want to see where you're going with it.

Well I'm glad to hear you both are itching to see where the story goes lol ... I guess I wouldn't be much of a story teller if I didn't at least have that effect on my readers wink
