BACKGROUND STORY:
Miyabi was born in an unknown place. A woman named Akira Akanishi found her when she was just six months old on a luxury ship that was being commandeered by the woman's crew. Akira couldn't just let the baby die or anything. Her motherly instincts wouldn't have it. So, as she couldn't have any children of her own, and she'd probably killed the girl's mother, she decided to take Miyabi in as her own child.
As Miyabi grew, she loved to learn how to cook different things from the ship's cook. Stews, seafood, anything she could possibly make while they were on the ship with her foster-mother's crew, she made. She then began to experiment 'cooking' with things like bombs. Miyabi spent many hours in the night time, mixing things to try to create 'the perfect bomb'. She hasn't found it to this day, and still stays up long after it's time for her to sleep.
One night, when Miyabi was 13 years old, she heard a loud noise come from the main deck of the ship. She paused to listen for more noise, and heard gunfire and the ship's bell being rung frantically. She grabbed some bombs, a box of matches, stuck them in a large, thick leather bag, snatched up her sword and ran to the main deck to see an immense battle between the crew of the ship and people with metal headbands around their foreheads, necks, or arms. She tried nonsensically to find her mother, and found her on the forecastle deck, soaking in a pool of her own blood. Akira's last words told Miyabi that Akira wasn't her real mother, and to escape the ship before she befell the same fate.
Miyabi cried over her foster-mother's death briefly, before being yanked up by the back of her shirt fiercely by one of the strangers in a headband and tossed back down to the main deck. They held her at the point of a sword, laughing to eachother menacingly about doing unspeakable things to her. She backed away, sticking her hands behind her back and striking a match against the underside of one of her self-made bombs. She lit the fuse and waited a couple of seconds before changing her facial expression and tossing the bomb into the group of men, watching as it exploded and shot shrapnel in many places around the ship. She quickly took cover under her thick leather bag of bombs as small metal pieces flew through the air in all directions at great speeds. She knew the bag's thickness could protect her only a little bit, but it'd be enough not to have gotten killed by her own bomb.
She listened for the last pieces of metal to stop flying about and cautiously looked behind the bag at the men that had threatened her. Four out of five were laying on the deck, lifeless. The fifth still had his sword pointed at her. He raised his arm and swung, but Miyabi moved back and got cut only on her eye. The man fell to the ground, dead, as Miyabi screamed in pain.
Miyabi looked around with her other eye, covering the cut one with her hand to find out she was the last one on the ship that was living. She despaired and went below deck to pack things such as books, food, bombshells, gunpowder, more shrapnel to put in bombs, flash powder, fresh (not sea) water, clothes, and whatever loot they had that she could use for money. She packed it all into a cockboat, which she had turned right-side up by herself. She covered her eye with an eyepatch temporarily, noting to herself that her eye may still be saved. She then took a normal bomb and a match from the boat. She sighed to herself and ran down to the hold, lit the bomb with the match, tossed the bomb in and ran back up to the cockboat before it blew up, sinking the ship and leaving her afloat with some of the dead bodies.
Miyabi has been switching around pirate crews ever since, looking for a permanent one to be her home and new family.
