A random poem I wrote in about 5 minutes sweatdrop Enjoy, and critique welcome.
"We used to race among the corn
As we played under bright, high skies
Eager to meet each new morn
We awaited each new surprise
When tears would flow because a scrape
Was fresh on your dusty knees
And never because of trauma or war
We could laugh and dream as we pleased
Whatever happened to such a time,
The time we now call childhood?
Why ever did we have to grow up,
And find this sorrow with little good?
What happened to the mystery
Of walking in the cornrows high?
What about the shapes in the clouds
We used to see float through the sky?
I miss the sounds that were once known
The sights, the fun, and bright unknown
How I wish I could be small again
And lose this anxious weight"
