This was the topic that got me in here and i think could help Quote: Slowly but surely im finding it harder and harder to have intelligent discussions here in the ED as well as finding intelligent topics w/ actual factual facts resources and thought out Origanal posts, i myself regret wishing long OP would go away, But instead of complaining maybe we should find a solution. So what do you ED'rs think would be the best way to fix this, do you think ED topics should have a certain number of letters/words before being published?? Do you think there should be a new "reference" button used to allow people to at least use one website to base their arguments or define there discussions?? Should there be ED license were once someone has made a Discussion in a "lesser" Discussion board that has valid points that they are aloud the option of having an ED license to make new topic?? while still allowing anyone to reply w/ out a license??? Discuss: The invasion of "du-du-duhh" topics A possible solution to increase the number of intelligent topics in the ED The Link is hereFOR THOSE THAT DON'T GET IT THE LICENSE ONLY ALLOWS THE USER TO MAKE TOPICS, THOSE W/OUT THE LICENSE CAN STILL REPLY BUT AREN'T ALLOWED TOPIC MAKING

Yes, I think that you should have to apply to participate in the ED. I also think we need a team of mods to approve topics.

I don't. Making an exclusive "club" of members who can use the ED is bound to harbor some resentment: look at how many people call us elitist simply for trying to clean up the forum. Blocking general access to the ED will only cause unneeded unrest.

I merely said licensed people would be allowed to MAKE THE TOPICS, anyone else can respond sorta like driving, your behind the wheel cause you gott an ID while the kids scream and yell in the back

hmm ... what about different type of ID's for the ED like me i can't much speak about jewish culture or stuff but im quite knowledgable about black heritage and culture so it may resemble:
Kajitora Born 04/07/2005 Skin #5 ED License topic: B15 (Black), A1 (Art), GS199(Gaming systems), SS68(Super Smash Brothers)

This idea isn't going to work in my opinion. Why would they block ED off for everyone until they get a license? That would crowd up other forums.
The number of words and sites? You know trolls, posting the same picture or couple pictures at a time thousands of times. They could easily add a site to some random wikipedia reference.

this is a public forum, and it should remain a public forum. how can a person expect free discourse, when only a select few can be members?

I don't like the idea of licenses or other varieties of elitism. A 5-day posting ban on new avatars *might* help with the Barraketh problem, but he's smart and dedicated enough that he'd jus' construct a backlog of alias' to draw upon. Slightly off-topic, I do have one suggestion that might cut down on GD- and CB-quality spam on the subfora: create GD and/or CB subfora for politics, religion, etc. A lot of spammers justify their defecations on ED by saying "this is the religion forum". Having a religion forum in which "bump if you love jesus" threads are allowed might cut down on the quantity of them on ED:M&R.

I've never heard of that one before! I like that a lot!

Wait here's an Idea, the license allows people to immediatly make topics, those w/ out can make topics but they have to wait to be confirmed
